My bluetick/catahoula has recently started itching excessively, chewing on himself, loosing lots of hair and also loosing an extreme amount of weight.
I have done everything I can think of, wormed him with different types of wormers, tried different flea medications and baths, I have also used flea and lice powders to absolutely no avail.
Do you folks have any ideas on something that can help besides taking him to the vet.
Any help is much appreciated.

Is that why you switched the feed to begin with? Did you do a straight switch back or did you mix feeds for a bit?
How old is this dog? What's the natural character of the dog? Nervy, sensitive, bold, etc. Sometimes stuff like this comes on due to stressful events.
I don't intend to be overly forward with all these questions. It's habit. I did independent research for a specific breed that spanned about a decade, amongst other things health related. A consequence of that it its become habit for me to get all up in people's business when it comes to looking at health issues.
If you want you can send me an email: dogue@ptialaska.net
I offered that up because the hound guys probably could give you a more direct and precise answer. In case not, I wanted to give you an option if you come up short.

I wondered about that as well. He didn't mention odor which from a houndsman might not think its something worth mentioning with yard dogs (meaning they can be kind of rank anyway).
Is the bluedog reference due to the general and perhaps universal consideration given that it's a recessive trait, skin issues often go hand-in-hand?
I ask because while that is something I thought to be universal, I've mentioned before that despite my varied background in dogs you guys speak an entirely different language than what I am accustomed to so I try not to assume anything when I am talking to you guys.
Course, bluedog could be a scrunched up signature line and not anything else related to what the OP asked about
