50% bleach 50% chlorine works best
Re: Lime sulfur solution for feet?

And what statement did I make concerning dogs?
Re: Lime sulfur solution for feet?
Use a little common sense here . lime is mild enough in its dry form. But not something you put on live moist tissue. Chlorine or bleach or what ever magic combination of the two. Will eat a horse hoof much less dogs feet. The only possible explanation for that being passed around is a VERY dilute mixture can be useful in clearing up fungus or bacterial infections. There are preparations tested and labeled for these things already.
Toughening pads is a seperate topic.

Re: Lime sulfur solution for feet?
I've used sulfur/ hydrated lime in all my bare ground pens. Never had any problem with it damaging feet. It helps on odor and flea/tick problems. Bare ground pens in South Louisiana get wet in rainy spells like what's going on now.
Re: Lime sulfur solution for feet?
Hydrated lime. Used as a deodorizer. Broadcast onto dirt or gravel etc. This is a common on label use. Now i m not against doing things that work. The thing is online directions need to be very clear and easily understandable.
Now before someone feels offended or just wants to argue. If some one is asking for help they probably need it. Second most folks arent going to know what they dont. So putting it on them to ask for clarifications they probably dont know they need is unreasonable.
Just like chlorine i dont know how theyd go about getting it . but if they managed 50% chlorine is going to be a serious hazard. Who ever is handling it what ever its applied to. Hell even if it was spilled in some kennels it would produce enough gas to be lethal.
Be careful giving advice be careful following advice. I dont want to hear about someone dissolving their hound or killing their kids etc.

Peg, he probably ment a 50/50 mixture of bleach/ granulated chlorine. You can buy granulated chlorine at pool dept in wallyworld in several %. Some of them low enough to use that way. I plan on throwing some out tomorrow, it a good alge and disinfect down here.

If you used 50% chlorine, the nameplate on the collar would probably be the only thing left. Maby a little hair.
Re: Lime sulfur solution for feet?
Like i said the whole topic got out of hand with no one being nearly as clear as they might have thought they were.

Most people don’t realize the differences and different classifications of chlorine, they hear chlorine and immediately assume the jugs of the all purpose cleaner found every where...

LOL!
Back to the lime sulfur- lime sulfur will clear up a fungal infection on their feet if they are around damp conditions a lot but as far as toughening their feet I do not know.

Re: Lime sulfur solution for feet?
Again. Hydrated lime. Which is really mostly calcium. Not quick lime or any other chemical use or construction use "lime"
although at this point if someone really wants to use those type limes go ahead

Re: Lime sulfur solution for feet?
