New to hound hunting training advice

Postby Bluetick333 » Fri Sep 18, 2020 3:37 pm

I have an almost 6 month old Bluetick male that has a good obedience handle on and will make it to the tree on every drag but he’s timid and uncertain on live game won’t bay or act like his confidence is building either. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

Hi, sounds like you're off to a good start. My best advice would be to give the dog time, it's only 6 months old. Most dogs don't mature until they're well over a year old or two. Second best advice would be to search this forum as this topic has been covered a lot and there is some great info on the old posts. Good luck and happy hunting.

Pair the pup up with an older dog that barks/bays at the caged critters. He just don't know what to do yet. Put em on more game, give him some time and praise him each time out. Good luck.
