Invest in a shock collar. Put them in the truck and shock em when he jumps out. It will take a few times they will learn tho.

That may work for a hard headed dog, but a timid dog it could ruin them. Make loading into the truck a positive thing. Feed them in the back, take them on drives even just to the store. If you need to just tie them up or put them in a kennel they will get accustomed to the truck being a good thing. Key to a dog is repetition and positive enforcement.

Unreal_tk I was just curious if I am understanding your info right! So instead of feeding then on the ground like I usually do feed them in the back of my pick up truck?! Should I have the truck running while I feed them cause they seem kind of timid :(!

Are they being tied or kenneled in the truck or are wanting them to stay in the truck after they jump in? Dewey

I guess if that's an issue you could. My dogs hear my truck, they are excited. Any other rig they could care less. Yes you are right, feed them in the truck bed for awhile until they are comfortable with it. Do not feed them anywhere else until they are ready.

HOT DOGS
have 2-3 of them turn your dogs loose or one at a time give them a couple of pieces of the hot dogs and then clime into the back of the truck and call them in after a couple of times they will jump right in, are you using a dog box or are they just in the bed of the truck without being tied in?
Ignorance and not getting involved is the biggest enemy to a Houndsmen!

To start I back up to a hill so the jump into the truck is quite short. Then to entice them I use hot dogs etc. That usually, hopefully, gets them to jump in.

Then after they "know" they can jump in, the next thing is they associate the truck with hunting/fun, you are golden from there.

At least in my experiences.

Okay thank you everybody for all this new information! So what I am going to do is feed them in the back of the truck every time I feed them. Next I should use a hot dog or something they really enjoy to entice them to jump into the back of the truck. Start with backing up to a hill so their first jump isn't so far?! Now my next question s how do I get them to know to get into my dog box? Also how do I teach them to stay in the bed of the truck?
