SPORTDOG SHOCK COLLAR SYSTEM

Postby outlaw13 » Sun Feb 20, 2011 1:57 am

Ok, I know everyone says tri-tronics blah blah blah and great. I want to know if anyone has personally tried the "sportdog hound hunter sd-3225" good, bad, whatever, let me know. The reason i ask is i looked at it on the internet and it has a 2 mile range you can put up to 6 collars on it and i can buy it new for $271.00 W/1 collar. I know you will probably get what you pay for but it is hard to drop $419.00 on a trash breaker G3 exp when the sportdog system has all of the same features.

Just because it has the same features, doesn't mean it has the same quality. There's a reason all the rest want to be like Tri Tronics. Good luck!

I use the Sportdog 3200 which is there 4 dog system. I never had any problem with it and the range is really good. The controller uses 9 volt batteries which adds to the cost of operation. Always carry a spare. The problem with the old model is there is no tone button, which is a handy training tool. The 2500 has a 6 dog system with tone but you can only tone two dogs the other 4 require shocking.
I hope this helps.

The 3225 is new on the market. It is supposed to be the improved model to the the 3200. Been using the 3200 for about 3yrs now. Plan to get the 3225 before July. Just for the extra dog. The tone does not matter much to me. The 3200 has been durable enough. You should be happy with the 3225. One of the nice things about both of these units is that they are much smaller than the TT or 2500. Makes them more convenient to carry and use. The rechargeable transmitter is going to be nice to have. The 9v in the 3200 did not last very long. Sport dog does make a good product, and has excellent service!!!

Thank you all very much who replied and knew what they were talking about. I think i will order the sportdog system and try it out, and later on down the road i will let everyone know what i think good or bad. From what a lot of people have told me in pm's and on here sounds like ill have no problems with it.

i love it so far, it has great range i live in the mountains and i can really reach out and touch a dog. Also i like the fact that it has a tone button as i can now make my dogs come to me by using that. It is really easy to use. and i know it has enough power for my hard headed plott to sit him on his ass when he continued on a deer track and the smaller bursts of electricity were not getting him to understand. So It is great so far.

Is Sportdog stuff made in the USA? Curious. I believe Tri-Tronics equipment is. any other American made equipment Mfg;s out there? For a little more money it is worth it to me, and I am not rich by any means. An extra $100-$150 means a lot and takes me time to get but if it means doing my duty and supporting my country, I'll make that sacrifice, as we all should, unless you are willing to accept being laid off from your job at some point?
