dc 50 problems

Postby 250plot » Mon Jun 09, 2014 10:43 pm

i have been using my dc 50 for about 10 hunts. i have been losing my dog on the dc 50 more than the dc 40s. now i haven't totally lost my dog yet but it goes and comes more than my 40 does. just wondering if anyone else has this problem or any advise. i thought about sending it back but want to see if there's anything i could do first. have talked to other hunters and the majority of them love the 50 collars. any help would be much appreciated

Make sure you 320 is updated, also make sure you DC50 is updated. I know there was some issues when using them with a 320 and older software.

made sure twice that everything was updated. when you say older equipment do you mean older made 320s or just all 320s altogether?

When you lose the DC50 is it because of Lost communication or Lost GPS signal. How long does it loose it before it picks back up?

a little of both. when i lose it i check communication on the 320 sometimes its full and other next to nothing. the longest i lost it for was about 15 to 20 minutes. the last time i used it i turned everything on it picked it up and got ready to go and it showed that i lost him. i was standing right next to it. i haven't had any interference with the collar either

Did you buy it from us? If updating the 320 it doesn't fix it give us a call or I would call Garmin. Definitely shouldn't be loosing the Comms for 15 minutes.

I know from personal experience that I had an issue with a collar and I would have sworn the Problem was with the DC50 collar. all my other collars were working perfect and only the DC50 collar was acting up. The fix was to update the 320 and wasn't a problem with the DC50 at all.
I've worked with some guys that have had issues with the DC50's and sometimes they don't work right but as a general rule they should be working as good as your other collars if not better.

But like I've mentioned, Definitely don't overlook the software update on your 320.
