Re: Loose Bruce
Sorry I can't help you with your question but I got a grandpup of Bruce crossed with lots of Marosoks breeding on top and Grandpup to Nailor on bottom with lots of House breeding and some old school Nance. They came from excelent cat dogs. Who did you get your female from? I would love to see a pic and pedigree. I'm more than satisfied with mine. Good nose, fast, hard hunting, loud, accurate and great tree dogs. But I don't know much about Bruce himself.

Re: Loose Bruce
Thanks fellas. Cjohnson, this is her ped, I got her from Mark Stone, Her dad Willy has sence passed, I think he was 11 years old, from what I understand he was quite a track dog, I guess he won a whole bunch of them hound field trials he competed in, not the coon night hunts. Then on the Dams side back a few generations I know and worked with the lady that owned Jimmy and Jonny, them dogs were ledgends in there time and top reproducers in Idaho for cat and bear, I know a few guys that have dogs out of them including an outfitter I used to work for, I seen his daisy dog do work, she was sure a dandy, they are those guys best dogs.......

I've got a ton of pictures of her on game but here's a few randoms. This is a pic of her this summer...
This is her on a bobcat tree just last Jan. She will be 2 years old in March. She like's to throw her head back.....
Her in a bobcat bay-up in Dec.
First dog in front on a bobcat tree...
And more but anyway, I really like the traits this dog possess, she's been track minded ever sence I got her as a little pup, which is what I really need in a bobcat dog, she's not a tree crazy idiot looking to grab a tree right away, she really wants to run track with a loud bawl mouth, and fast, I seen her run right with Larry Emery's July hound a few times when they were out together and that dog is fast, they were a mile away before we could get a sled off the trailer . I have never did any cage stuff or drags with her, she's always been a natural dog for me, so I just went to hunting her. She was kinda weak on the tree at first, that is untill she seen a few bobcat climb, then that was just second nature to her as well. I must say out of any of the dogs I've owned so far she is by far the funnest to hunt, she makes me laugh at times listening to her loud mouth out there running game and when she does tree she's got something up there.
From what I've learned and read of old Bruce and his off spring so far is he was a real track minded dog. I sure would like to find something as close to him as I could get to breed onto this female of mine one day. Said and done what I'm after is them cold nosed "track" minded treeing walkers.
Please keep the info coming on the woodscreek dogs guys, I sure apreciate it, and thanx for the PM's...Beau

Re: Loose Bruce
Well I'm glad I asked Wow! small world. Bearwhippin Willy was owned by Chad Clark. He was one bad ass dog. He also owned Harwood Nailor Louise and direct daughter of Nailor. I got to 2 dogs off him a male and female. I'm also looking for something to breed my female to. I realy F**Ked up and got the male cut. Man I'm sure kicking myself for that one. The female Daisy is currently the Idaho Houndsmen Ass. junior hound of the year. The male is a little to cranked up for field trials but he is the fastest dog I've ever seen.
Here are mine. They will be 3 in June

Re: Loose Bruce
Nice looking dogs!! Do you cat hunt with them? It sure is a small world ant it?! I bought a dog (Bratzilla) from Chads brother Brent, she's Rock River bred on the top, she's a super hard tree dog with loads of gritt, almost to much, almost died on me this winter from to many bobcat bites (infections), had to bring her to the vet to keep her alive but she's been a real nice dog for me, seen quite a few bobbers with her in the last 2 years, she's fixed so I cant breed to her. All that gritt and tree is nice but I like this Bruce type of dog more for these cats, Blaze wont let the bobcat get ahold of her where Brat will kill it.....ends up costing me vet money in the long run.
This is Brat (from Brent Clark) treed on a 47lb bobber I harvested, with smillie, a running dog...
The 47lber...
This is Willy here Grandson to Loose Bruce sire to my pup (Sorry Mark I stole ur pic)
Then a pic of Blaze, see any resemblence? She kind of took on his looks..
I still would love to learn more about Bruce, or see a pic of him.

Re: Loose Bruce
Brent sent me a DVD of some of his hunting. It was some excelent footage. I realy like his slash dog. From what Chad told me Willy was a gritty S.O.B. Those Clark brothers have some fine hounds. I consider myself lucky to have stumbled onto thier dogs. These two I got hunt with the attitude if they can't tree it, kill it. I mostly hunt coon. Mostly for financial reasons (gas $$), I got alot a private land close to home and I like to hunt 2 or 3 times a week so coon hunting makes gas affordable. We've caught a few cat while coon hunting. They caught a small lion on the ground in some rocks at 6 months old, it was a long race too. And treed their first bear by themselves at 10 months old. I can't afford the gas to do a whole lot a big game hunting but when we do go we do good.

Re: Loose Bruce
Nice pix and sweet dogs guys.
Mr. Pacojack, thank you. I like the bottom side too. I'm wanna cross her this fall with a top and bottom nailor bred male. And hopefully that new pup I got will prove worthy and I'll breed them in a couple years. If I remember correctly Slash is a grandson to Jimmy D's Handsome Hank but I could be wrong.
Heres the cross I hope to make in a few years. I like the Nailor blood but looks like I could use a little more Bruce. Anyone got a Nailor , Bruce bred male.

Re: Loose Bruce
I spent many nights in the woods with Durkees Proud Rummie. He was very heavy Finley River bred on the top and Lipper on the bottom if I remember his bottom side correctly. And loose change was Finley River if I remember correct.Let me tell you what Rummie could flat fly on a track and he loved to run biggame but his owner Keith spent his whole life trying to break him off of everything but coon.I constintly told keith if you would just let him do what he wants to you would have one of the best big game dogs around.Rummie finally towards the end of his life got to go to Canada once and got to run bear without getting shocked for it LOL.And did a damn good job of it.

Re: Loose Bruce
I have been hunting Loose bruce dogs for almost 20 years. I got one from Mark Moncrief back then and to this day he is the best switch hitter I ever owned. Jiggs died around 2000 but I froze seman and still breed to him today. I am currently working 5 that are grandfathered by Bruce on the sire side with Lipper and trigg on the dam side. I will be selling three soon and possible do the same cross if anyone is intrested PM me
