Kinda slow

Postby perk » Sat Jun 27, 2020 10:57 pm

Kinda slow on here, figured I'd post couple pics of one of my hounds, see if any one else wanted to post a pic or 2 of any of theirs, give us something to look at, talk about, dream about, or reminisce about.

Purdy hound perk! Here are some of my pot lickers I use on hogs. They are treeing walker/catahoula cross, depending on what mating they are as to how much hound is there, averaging about 1/4. The first 3 a litter mates and the black female is their mother. This is pretty much what all my dogs look like. Same builds just different colored wrappers. All types of blacks, brindles, merles, reds and yellas ( those two are usually red or yella merle until they get older then you have to look to see spots) or hound markings.

Just a few of the mutts I own. Been really turning it on here lately. First one is 2 year old Pocahontas breed. Second one is my 8 month old Pocahontas and white hollow cross that is doing really awesome making trees and keeping up with the older dogs.

Nice hounds guys. Rickyfarrel0 do you notice the pocahontas dogs maturing slower than most? I've only really been around one male that was really heavily bred that way. He was a good dog and sired some good dogs but seemed like no matter what he was bred to they matured slower. He was silent on track and a pretty stocky made dog, heavy muscle. He was pretty dang salty too. There was a question for a while if he was going to get smart or get dead on hogs. He got smart but it was a slow and extremely lucky process.

That's interesting. I've seen dogs that would slack sometimes and it seemed to be when there was a particular dog or set of dogs they were hunted with. I never figured out if it was because they were intimidated or if they figured they couldn't beat that certain dog or if they just knew the other dog(s) were gone carry the load so they coast. When they weren't with those dogs they shined like new money. After being hunted without those other dogs for a while they overcame it. This may not be what is going on with your dog but sounds similar especially with him being a young dog at 2. I hope he lines out for you because he sounds like he has some real good qualities.

Yeah that why I have kept him around hoping he comes around and because of his nose. If it wasnt for that he wouldn’t be in the kennels. Yesterday we treed one and he was the first one to the tree. It came out and we treed it again and he was the last one of my dogs to the tree.

Mule man, he is just local home bred, nothing fancy, just dogs that have drive and historically catch game, brain, nose and desire. nothing close in his pedigree is registered, or could be for that matter, goes back to some heavy hills stuff on top of top, some mills sheriffs breeding on bottom of top and top of bottom, some gangster jake breeding on bottom of bottom. I’ve raised and broke or hunted with parents, grandparents, great grand parents... has 3-4 crosses of a sheriffs bred dog named Mack, my buddy owned and raised dozens of top hounds out of,in 4 generations. But he is the size I like my males right at 27”, and has a good mouth, really hustles. have a littermate sister she is a better hound but just had pic of him on chain so I posted.
