I'm looking for some background on the Stryker line of Curs bred by Daryl Frye out of Nevada.
Also the Dozer line by David James out of Montana...
Anybody know if these lines are mainly bred for decoy and den work, or would they also run a track and tree???
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Charlie

Re: Stryker Bred Cur Dogs???
PM Mel Utter on here. I gave him the last of my Striker bred curs. I just talked to him and he is planning on doing a repeat litter of my old Rachel X Derril's Tigra dog, next spring.
The first litter produced 2 male pups that are both doing very well. These Striker dogs work great for coyotes (decoying and denning) and also on cats and bears. Both Mel and Derril work as Govt hunters so you know the dogs are getting used and are surely not junk if they're feeding them.
I have little experience with the dogs from Dave James. I have heard good things about them but have have only hunted with one, when she was a pup.
Best of luck in your search.
Take care.

Re: Stryker Bred Cur Dogs???
Thanks for the reply Mason
I wasn't very clear in my first post. (I struggle with typing what I'm thinking.)
I'm actually picking up a female pup on Friday that's a cross of these two breedings. The sire's out of Frye's Striker line, and the dam's from the Dozer line of James's...
This is the second litter of these pups and so far they've produced some pretty good dogs, but the majority are used for Decoy and Denning work, although the parents also tree Coon's.. I plan to use the pup for Bobcats along with a old and very experienced Bluetick, and since this is my first Cur Dog I thought I'd ask about others experience with them for running a track..
I saw a couple of those Striker bred dogs run a few Cats down in Nevada, and was impressed with how fast they worked a track.. The Dozer line's suposed to have some Redbone in them too, and that's part of the reason I chose this breeding.
Guess I'll know soon enough???
Thanks again.

Charlie,
There's really only one way to find out.
Best of luck, with the right exposure they sure enough should make cat dogs.
Take care.
