Re: Oregon houndsmen
shawn, jimmy. you may not understand the whole picture. both you guys are the next generation of oregon houndsmen. i'm not....we didn't get here over night. this started decades before now. you have a dedicated group of hunters within the oregon sporting dog association who are working diligently in there own way to recover whatever they can for all oregon hound hunters. it is a combined effort that gets it done. some just view things differently than others....but make no mistake they are getting things done as well. the selection for the state assoc. is over and a new president was elected as well as vice president. they are as dedicated to hunting and getting back what ever they can as anybody in the business.
common sense will dictate the future of oregon's game management plan....so far those that manage have'nt been able to figure this out. plain economics and failed policy on behalf of the typical state and federal government is doing more than any individual involved. like any agency. you have a solid core of great game department biologist who are very concerned and dedicated. it just happens to be the upper end management that i find the problems all lie within. we are seeing the same uprising with the tea party all across our great nation.....we have the same thing going on locally....its called accountability....folks just getting tired of the bull@%&* and taking a stand for what is right. i don't care how we get there as long as we get there......shawn, jimmy....i just bet you both try your best to spread the word and make a positive impression/statement for the sport on behalf of all oregon hound hunters.
i recently had a visit with the head gentleman for the usda here in oregon. they are about to tank financially. i pledged to mr. david willaims i would personally help support efforts to raise funds for usda when they get out of the hound hunting business for profit and get back on track with what usda was intended to do across oregon. i have come to understand the complexity of all of this....i don't for one second agree or buy into any of it. i also find i'm always way behind the actions of the powers that be in salem....but also make no mistake about this....they know we are not going away any time soon...any of us...i will dedicate efforts to help assist in funding or i will assist in totally under mining any effors to sustain usda for one more second if they don't get it....plain basic economics.... don't count your chickens before they hatch...after all they are government employees....but i can tell you this. our district 17 representative sherri sprenger deserves our support and vote this november. she has come full circe from just a few short months ago taking on and challenging the status quo in salem...
along side of any victory comes responability to maintain it. they give us some rope i hope it isn't just an open invitation to hang ourselves with it. effors to maintain clean ethical sport hunting has never taken on greater meaning... we finally have a fighting chance for redemption.... take care and good hunting...mike martell
