hunting at night is under fire again

Postby catdog360 » Thu Apr 03, 2014 2:08 am

I just found out from my dad that April 11 game commission meeting they are making a decision on hunting at night restrictions. I don't know much and if others could add more info we need it fast.

.

9. Hunting Restrictions – Decision
Department staff will request that the Commission approve the amendment of WAC 232-12-242 to include restrictions regarding hunting at night and the use of dogs during modern firearm deer and elk seasons that were inadvertently deleted during technical clean-up and reorganizing of several wildlife rules.

Apparently last year we were allowed to hunt at night during deer and elk season. They want that law back. But if you think about it, did we gain 6 weeks of more hunting oppertunity by accident? Are we gonna lose it?

Since this rule has been in effect for a year now, were there any conflicts with hounds and deer and elk hunters last year?
Is it still legal to hunt coons at night without dogs in September October and Nov?

Funny how some wardens weren't aware of the new law last year and told coonhunters they could not hunt from Oct 12 till Nov 20th. They need to know the law before trying to enforce the law. I love the Barney's of the World. lol
We are working again on having a persuit season again this year past our regular kill season. More to come on this issue in a month or so as were 1 or only 2 states in the Country that you can't persue year round. Making a hound in Washington State takes time and by the time you do so he or she is old.
