Pups are growing nicely and developing well. Been doing some drags with them and they seem to LOVE to track...I think they'll track just about anything they can smell right now. I said it when they arrived and now I'll say it again; 100% the most mellow well behaved pups I've ever had...

Looking good Brady and I hope you keep keeping us posted. I am so sick of just seeing these dogs on a leash or running and playing in a feild or on a bench and all the big stories of them tracking 16 day old track. Guess what I am saying, I really have faith that you will do something with these dogs and we all can finally see them in action.

Since this is my post and it is about my GS dogs, and the other can of worms was my post also, about the GS cross pups I bred up, I ask that this post not get trashed...

Larry, you know as well as I do, that until dog DNA gets more advanced, that we will never know for certain if the remaining decendants of the Bill Green hounds, have any GGS blood in them or not. But that day is not very far away.

Until then, no one knows for certain, nor has any quotes. Not even Bill's grandson knows his breeding formula and Bill's breeding advisor is dead and left no record.
As far as that goes, how many of the oldtime breeders were ever completely honest about the true makeup of their strain? How could they ever prove it? What I do have in writing is a quote from Harry O. Smith, that flatly states that the best thing that ever happened to his Sugar Creek strain, were the hounds he brought from Bill Green, and he even named names.

So I ask you again, did you see the CD? Have you seen all the pics? Those white dogs sure as hell aren't Walkers...
Bill had these Black and White hounds before his service duty and a different set after. If they weren't part of his breeding program, then why did he have them...twice?

tim lets hear an update, how are they dong on game these days?

I ran them pretty hard this fall on bare ground and they did better than I had hoped nose wise. I have been running the Blue dogs for the last month and a half. I almost needed more nose last weekend than the bluedogs have. If it keeps melting and freezing on the south slopes the GGS's will get back out to grub in the mud and ice. I like what they are doing and am awed by the noses they have. Plus, it did not take them long to figure out that if they want to catch a bobcat, they have to run faster than my Camerons. They are the real deal...for sure.

I'm gonna throw in a couple of my 2 cents. One day when we get better at DNA profiling and we can tell what Bill bred for sure we will perhaps know the answer...Until then, who cares? Fact is fact, the GGS hounds have nose power that is unreal, the behave like little angels and they are extremely well built for big game hunting. There are NUMEROUS forums in Europe where these hounds are discussed at great length and many breeders who would love to talk to anyone who took the time to do their homework on them.

I've seen Bill's DVDs and the hounds sure enough look like they have GGS in them...but, if they don't, I couldn't really care less. I'm pretty amped up on the GGS after the homework that I have done on my own time from the European breeders as well as having questions answered from liontracker and African.

So, I guess my bottom line is we should evaluate the GGS based on what we know, they have incredible noses, looks and a build to kill, handle extremely well and should be able to out perform many of the hounds we currently have....time will tell fellas, time will tell.....

I took my pups to the vet today to use their good scales and get stats on my pups...Liontracker I know you were asking me about this the other day on the phone...

Spider:

Weight: 59.3 lbs
Height: 23.5"
Ear Spread: 26"


Cleo:

Weight: 46.5 lbs
Height: 22"
Ear Spread: 23.5"


These pups are just barely over 5 months old!!! Their conformation is staying nice and they seem to grow at a healthy rate.
