I hunted a dog for a buddy on here (WACoyoteHunter) and he has a Blackmouth Cur that is something else! Fast, gritty, smart, listens like a housedog, good tree dog. Ive still been thinking about getting one. Holes in her ass, last day I had her she got rolled up underneat a 325lb boar.

I sold a couple Blackmouth cur pups to a guy in Wisconsin that used them for bear. When the hounds jumped the bear they would send in the curs, as he called them the heat seeking missiles, to put it up a tree. He loved his for bear.

i tryed findin some one that only runs curs no hounds in the pack i offered a guy on this web site who was pushin curs showin videos etc a ride to maine all expenses payed for more than a year the guy dos not work that was not a excuse but would turn around and drive 1500 miles to go breed a coyote hound i dont know well the offer still stands for anyone in the north east who has curs i can have the baits or we can rig them easy right a place to stay lets see a all cur pack tree bear in maine i have seen bear tree other places they go up alot easier in newyork a kemmer please perferably yellow dogs i know all about the plott in the brindle dogs and im probably wrong again but i feel lepard curs some of them have hound in them im not sayin the curs are not great or anything else im sure they are everything every one says they are i would just luv to see it and so would a few other guys i hunt with thats all no harm intended etc
i also put out there i would like to hire a guide for a week in any state that has a all cur pack and no replys in a year
i know its diferent etc look on prohound and see what dog breeds make the most money hm
not lookin to ruffle feathers but the cur pictures are always with hounds
some days its hard for the best hounds to find a track or even tree a long runner or have enough dog power on a big or small nasty bear and they been at it for like 200 hundred years li freediver

I'd would venture to say that there aren't alot of all cur packs for bear out there. Depending on what type of cur your talking about. Your purebred Blackmouth Curs and Mountain curs and not going to start a 12 hour old bear. Hell they won't even start an hour old bear. It's either a hot track that the bear just stepped out of or their not going on it. They are not cold nosed dogs. Some folks dump the curs in after the bear has been jumped to push them up a tree.

Don't know nothing about treeing curs but have been told that breeding a hound to a cur you will loose alot of the nose. Don't know if it's true or not? Maybe someone that has a treeing cur can tell you a little about them.

Has anyone looked up the definition of a cur? It's a dog of mixed breeding.

Hey lifreediver,
Look up Don Page in Emmett Idaho. He's in his 80's I ran into him this year once and he was still catchin bears. All cur pack. If he was a little younger he could probably go out that way and teach you something. Hell I'm sure he could now.

brushcreek thank you for the info but i cant find his number if you know the man maybe you could give me his number so he can show me how the curs hunt.it seems he might have stephen curs which are a open dog very hound like i thought the idea with a cur was a silent dog that jumps the game silent then opens when it is lookin at the game which would lead to game bein caught quicker
also if you were so imperssed with him and his dogs when you meet the man how many dogs did you buy off of him i hope you got a yard full
dont you find it a little weird how the cur breds origin were in tennesse west virgina etc never made it north but spread all over the country and i know for a fact that guys come every year from those states to run there hounds in the north east all the way up to canada and the plott which was imported and from the state or same area is hunted alot in the north east and canada
im askin a question and dont want to arguee with you or anybody else
hmm and if they were better on bear and ohh im sure they are every guide would want them shorter races more bear in the tree happier customers
try this go get a border collie etc dump him on ya scream pack of hounds that have a bear jumped i will bet ya he will be at the tree does that make him a bear dog
they just dont exist on the pro level with bear hunting why i guess all the guides refuse to give up there loud slow hounds who dont listen and are dumb
now on another note my freind has curs and pits nitevision binoculers catchs a lot of hogs like that ask him if any of his 20 something curs can keep with a pack hound he got from the north east which by no means is a fast dog she will catch a trophy hog any were from 15 minutes to 4 hours how many curs stay with her on a jumped hog on a four hour race hmm bring ya curs pm me i will give you his number maybe we both will learn somethin
im always open to seein great dogs from any breed i travel a bit huntin am always lookin to buy a gd dog and even though i wanted curs years ago with all the hype damn it i always end up with dog that is not a cur  well im off teachin my dumb hound sign language beca  use he dont listen maybe hes deaf
