So what do you guys think? Im new to this so would just like some opinions from some experienced bear houndsmen. Do you guys find that your pups will quit a race after a certain distance when you start them and then get better and better until theyre running full races to the tree? Im only hunting them with one other finished dog and they seem to quit after running a couple miles. Everytime I take them out they tare off on the track with the old boy tonguing good. If you want more info ask away. Thanks

Brodie,
10 months is still very young for hounds getting into the bear game. Give them time to mature mentally with more experience and you'll eventually get after some that climb easy to give your pups a confidence boost. Summer heat can wear them down on the long races and cause them to fall out, and or if they've already had a scary close encounter or two with a mean bear they may not exactly want to catch up to a bear when they're trailing. I'd guess that with more time and effort, with smart, methodical, quality hunting time in good conditions, that they'll start to make the whole deal from strike to tree/bay up with the older Bluetick.
