After seeing petes pic of the biggest bear he treed i thought i would post one of the biggest bear i treed and let go.Of course it was training season. Id say this and another one were the 2 biggest bears ive ever seen in a tree. The post above with larrys big bear. Im 90% sure i ran that same bear with joe young a few years before laryy and matt harvested him.Joe and i watched that bear run right threw 3 strands of barb wired fence. The bear snapped the fence like it was dental floss. It was something to see. Larry and matt started the 438lbs bear just a couple of miles up the road from where joe and i ran it.Im pretty sure it was the same bear.He was started both times out of a corn feild with the hounds.

Great pics dale thanks for sharing that 435 lbs bear looks just as big as the 600lbs bear. Hard to tell in a picture. Im sure there was some size differance tho.Dale you got any idea what the biigest bear that has ever came out of maine? 600lbs got to be right up there as record book weight.

Jason About 20 years ago there was a huge bear living on the Danforth dump. Everyone had herd of him he only had 3 feet. A bait hunter put an arrow through him and set the record at 637# The previous record was under 600#.
One week later A hound hunter I think from S.Carolina killed one 66? # Which to the best of my limited knowledge is still the bigest

one of the bears George was talking about 422#

This was the Boon and crocket bear only 220# but had a 20 3/8" skull

410# live

You got me diging Jason I got more :)

I would give my right arm to have these 2 dogs again in there prime. This bear went 428#

I estimated this bear at 400# + or - 20 The head and hide went 120#

I left a tracking collar next to this Carcuss so I could find it again to get a true weight went back 3 days later hung up all the parts and got A total of 475#

Thanks for posting those Tobey. Those bears sure bring back some memories.Jason, the one that went 422 is the biggest I have seen taken. I have only treed a couple that I thought were bigger.I have video of one during training season that I know was quite a bit bigger in NH.Only time I treed him was during training season, twice.I caught him a couple times during kill season when I had a client with me.I could never get the hunter up on him to shoot.Could have killed him myself half a dozen times while waiting for the hunter to catch up.I am pretty sure thats the only bear I have ever seen that was over 500lbs.

What do you guys think of that B&C bear that only weighed 220? That was the only bear from Maine that made the B&C book that year.

I had a friend and his brother run down a 20+ boar and kill it on the ground. They thought the bear would go 400 pounds, and since the bear died on or near the road, and since there were four of them, they loaded it up and weighed it on the scales. That bear only went 300 pounds, but looking at the photos it was short, thick and kinda stubby..... I have a photo of it somewhere but would have to look it up.......

It would be great if it would ever stop RAINING I have run a few Bayed up one 250 to 300 and berned dogs on some small ones It's tuff relying on strikes. I been mostly roading dogs and taking tracks from the road. We can start baiting Saterday.

Here's a better look at the head on that boon and crocket bear. It's slightly smaller than George's
