Airedale terriers

Postby twilli » Sun Feb 05, 2017 6:50 am

Does anyone here hunt with them for lions ? What do they bring to the pack ? Can you recommend a breeder ? What are the usual characteristics of this breed for hunting big game ?

Thanks

Hunted lion with two Airedales. They were not raised up to hunt lion, one was two and the other 7? when they were introduced to cougar. The big advantage they had was their heavy coat, great for cold Alberta winters. The very first Airedale I owned came from northern Alberta and was a fast gritty dog with a good nose, did well with pheasants, even treed them...lol.

I only hunt mine on small game. From what I've read they have medium noses and are gritty with big game. Don't hunt with more than three or they could get suicidal gritty on big game. check out traditionalairedale.proboards.com. Couple guys on there hunt big game with their 'dales and have good success
