ear wounds/ tore ear

Postby klamathcathunter » Thu Dec 07, 2017 2:00 am

what do you guys and gals do for a tore ear, my males decided to find a new pecking order and in the process ones ear got about a 2 inch tear. it's not bleeding to bad so my thought was to clean it good and apply some bactine and newsprint. what else would you guys do if anything. thanks

Disinfect. Put some salve on it.
My lead dog ripped his ear tip plumb off last week. Let it scab over and it’s fine now.

Depends on the location and the state of my wallet.

If its not life threating and you are short on funds and time or the dog will not sit still, just trim it up and let it heal on its own. Spray with some good wound dressing every day. Cheapest stuff are those made for horses works fine on dogs too, lots of brands.

If you have time you can sew it up a bit so it looks better, as long as the dog will sit still. Spray with some good wound dressing every day.

Or if you have lots of cash you can take it in and for $300-$500 get it professionally sewed and listen to the vet-techs talk about your poor fur baby... Spray with some good wound dressing every day.
