how many times have you hunted him? have you been hunting him by himself only? i would run him with some older dogs so he knows what hes out there doing, if you have the ability take a shoat and do some mock hunts with the dog and see how he does i would. best thing to do is put him on fresh sign and let him run the track.

I have hunted him with finished dogs! I think when they strike he is not for sure what to do but he breaks off after a little while cause he does not see what they are looking for! But he is always Huntington the ground for scent just not sure if he knows what to look for! The only hog i have is about 150pound boar! And blue does not like him and he does not like blue!

This is a typical problem with a young dog that has been shown too much game in the pen.... he wants you to show it to him! I recommend no more work in the pen and lots of hunting where there is plenty of game. One thing that may help is to trap a hog and turn it loose in front of him but don't turn him loose til it is well out of sight but he still wants it.

keep running him with a the finished dogs it will click in his head what he is ment to do eventually. Young dogs learn from older dogs and from having wins the good things stick with them so just keep him at it.

In my opinion you don't teach a dog to strike, it's bred into them and you give them the opertunity. A natural strike dog will start striking any animal it smells in the first few times to the woods. JMO. Mike
