I am from WestCentral Missouri and I have hunted hounds all my life. I have looked at this forum for years , but just registered today. I have had running hounds, beagles, curs, feists, treeing hounds and terriers. I am looking to get into bobcat dogs. Is there any cat hound hunters in Missouri on here?

Re: first post
I feel like we have a good population of bobcats and I have quite a few acres of public ground around me. I currently hunt mt curs on coon and squirrel. I hunted foxhounds and daylight coyote hounds for most of my life. I quit about 8 years ago, because it ruled my life. I love hunting with hounds. I feel that I could hunt cats locally without getting crazy with it. Do you know of any cat houndsman in Missouri?

Welcome to the board. I have hunted most types of game with dogs and bear and cat hunting have been the most addictive by far so good luck with that part lol.
Here's a post from a guy in MO/KS area. Not sure if he is still hunting but he probably can point you to somebody who is and can also probably give you some advice on where to get the right kind of dogs for your region. Good luck and let us know how it goes. viewtopic.php?f=72&t=11519

We used to chase bobcats in NE OK and got two when I was younger. There is a good cat population, I think a snow would really help to sort out tracks, bc with the number of coons it would be hard not to tree coons. I also think running in the daylight outside of deer season would be effective. I spend part of the winters in northern Arkansas if you ever want to meet up. I’m starting another pup this spring

Let me know how that not getting addicted to cat running goes. I’ve been addicted to fox hunting since I turned 16 (I’m 64 now). Started messing around trying to run more cats 5-6 years ago, an uncle (a old retired from cat hunting) told me, boy, you keep messing with them cats and before long you’ll drive past 5 fresh fox tracks looking for 1 cold cat track. And he’s about right!
