Anybody snare coyotes in the east?

Postby Beimel » Sun Nov 17, 2013 10:19 pm

I am from pa and I am a newbie to snaring. Just wondering if anybody has much success snaring coyotes in the east and hoping I could get some good tips! How well do I have to hide my snares? I will make trail sets in thick brush on coyote trails and trails leading to bait. Any tips at all about anything would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I've snared in the past and done pretty well. I've never set in trails or open woods before. We have lots of fences here so you can ride and find their slides under the fences or holes where he's traveling. I just loop the snare in the hole and fasten the cable to the fence with baling wire. Sometimes it takes a few days but if a coyote is using that crossing you will get him. Have caught quite a few dogs also. But I use the deer stops on my snares any way because I want live coyotes. Dead ones are worth nothing here.
