If nothing else, you are spending time with the kids and teaching them something they probably wouldn't learn in school. And if you are successful with this, you guys will be able to make some cool stuff out of the leather and the kids will have good memories of that.

USA Fox and Furs does not tan anything. They send it out to have tanned then charge you twice as much. They are horribly expensive. There are only a couple tanneries now that will tan a hide into leather (hair off). And only one that I know of that has a machine large enough to do a hide as large as a moose. The other company will cut your hide in half so it fits through their fleshing machine.
The cost is expensive, but no where near $1000. They all charge by the square foot. A moose hide would be around $300-400 depending on size.

This is what we did today when we were saposta be scraping the moose hide my daughter killed this with a 12 Guage slug .we woke up to 1 and a half of snow I just couldn't resist the bears will soon be gone night night keep looking up

What there is a fleshing machine you say full cry hounds. Where would a person get one of these for doing hides?

The other question was how many times can I freeze and rethaw this hide I'm going to have to soon I'm hoping to get all the meat and fat off before I freeze it . but does the hide get harder to flesh after you freeze and thaw it and ya I'm hoping to have at least a small piece to tan hair on thanks again
