cold nosed plotts

just doing my homework before purchasing a hound. Who is breeding Big Houndy ColdNosed plotts that are Cat minded

not sure what your definition of big and houndy is but look up Darrell Jonet or Jonet Plotts. i think he is on facebook. he is producing some real nice bear/cat minded dogs.

pocohontas plotts. not necessarily big but I have a 2 year old gyp from them that is sure enough houndy looking and has the nose to back it up. I know of another poco bred plott that consistently gets it done on lion and bobbers in CO. Really like mine so far would recommend one from that Eugene Walker at pochontas plotts.

There's a lot of cold nosed plotts . star mtn and kamphouse plotts are the coldest nosed I ever seen . search on this site "cold nosed plotts" you will learn a lot .

Here is my home-raised Plott pup at 6 months.. Big ( a little over 60 lbs), houndy, good bawl mouth and he could follow an hours-old drag at 4 1/2 months of age...
his parents are both out of White Deer Kennels and he has Dollins Hicks, Pocahontas and Allen in his blood line.

My definition of" big and houndy " is 60 plus lbs big head long ears.

Go to plott days ask around don't believe everything you here

You don't have to go to plott days to figure it out . asking around will help and then hunt with different lines or get a bunch of references maybe even buy a couple from a couple different lines and compare . remember looks don't catch game . many many good plott guys and plott breeders don't attend plott days but I don't doubt there's a ton of information floating around there . good luck .

EDITED TO CLARIFY: I agree about talking to different plott breeders and owners, and i agree that looks dont translate into hunting ability, HOWEVER, i kept my pup out of the litter because i thought he was the prettiest one...very houndy with a lot of ears, skin and big-boned. He is a very laid-back, everybody's-target kind of dog who i used to refer to as my " Ferdinand the Bull", after the children's story that I'm sure we all read as a kid.. My husband was very unhappy with my choice. He was certain that i had chosen a "dud" out of a pair of super talented, high-drive parents.. He resigned himself to the idea that i had chosen a big " worthless" lapdog. I didn't think so ( read: i HOPED not) ...it wasn't until my pup turned 5 or 6 months that we realized that he DID have a ton of drive and a lot of talent, we had just been pointing him in the wrong direction..

thanks again for the replies. I agree looks don't catch game, but I prefer to feed one that looks good to me, rather than having to close my eyes on the way to the kennel. lol. I had beagles in the past, my best hare hound was the ugliest one I ever owned. She sure looked good on a track though.
