This is probably not the issue, but just in case:
Is he shaking his head? If he is, and does this in the dog box or heavy brush it makes it impossible to heal. Check inside his ears for issues. It is easier to smell some ear problems than to see them. Also if he doesn’t like his ears rubbed at the base of them, he probably has a problem inside of them.

He doesn't seem to have a problem around the house it's just when he runs. It can be the shortest race I get to the tree and both his ears are split bleeding.

A while back I had a issue with that with a young dog... probably not your problem but in my case it come to find out the young dog was a face Barker at the tree and the other hounds was not letting her get away with it... I had to sneak into a couple trees without the hounds knowing I was there and watch for a little to figure it out though...
