Prices are looking up!

Postby jasonrinebold » Wed Feb 09, 2011 6:34 am

Snakeriver Trappers had a fur sale weekend before last and averaged 386 with the top$ cat at 780$ It will be interesting to see what happens at Prineville first of March. I'm going to try Klamath Falls end of March and send to NAFA after that. Anybody hearing of anything else good?

We are having our fur sale tomorrow and friday here in CO. Prices are expected to be up for everything. I heard we have 2500 coyotes and over 200 bobcats. I'll be there tomorrow and let you know how it went.

I've always thought I should get some cats put up early for these early sales. I usually just skin my cats and freeze them. This year I've even fleshed and sewed some holes before freezing them. I usually wait till after the season closes and flesh, clean and stretch them all at once so I'm not missing out on good hunting days to work on furs.

Have sold 4 x-large and jumbo cats to the local fur buyer and have averaged 350 for good montana cats. Good large eastern montana coyotes are bring 50 to 60 bucks.

Just wondering if there was anymore updates on any sales. Hopefully that price stays good like some of you are saying Prineville and NAFA sales should be good.

Coyotes averaged 60-65 here and bobcats were way up, top cats were over 750. I bought three lynx that were very nice, I only paid $150 each, these were taxidermy quality, Lynx without feet only went for around $80. So not everything was high.

Sounds like the good stuff is going higher and the average stuff is saling about the same as last year so the overall averages are up. I've got 8 more to put and I'm done dealing with hides for the year. I couldn't have picked a worst time. We've got the best conditions of the year right now.

Prices are looking really good after the Nafa sale this last week. Sale average was $411 and the top lot of 8 cats sold for $1500 a piece. Yeah that is right, incredible. SOmeone needed to fill an order bad. Hopefully they stay good for the may sale.

Seeing how you guys did at Prineville and Klamath Falls? I never made it down to the sale I sold to northern buyer. Hoping I didn't sell myself short by no going to the sale?

So far Kfalls looks like some of the top that sold were in the $1100 and $1200 range that was for Sat dont know about Sun. Avg were really well most guys getting around $700 for the eastern cats but even hear of some of the western ones going for some good money. I will post the sale totals on here once they are out on the trapping forum.
