Lynx
Re: Lynx
WE put on one track that they trailed awhile then came back. I did not hear the trailing only a few barks at first. We pass a lot of tracks up that were females traveling with young. We walked out a large cat that was to old but thinking it would make a kill and be close with no open or much more than a tail wage. We did pick tracks that were fresh and large because of wolves that might be in the area. I took two old dogs and two young dogs because I did not know if my older bobcat dogs would run a lynx they will not run a lion but they did take to the lynx. These two older dogs have been on over 400 to 500 bobcat trees. Only one lynx put any race at all. Dewey

Jessie you can see how I was bundled up to keep warm. I about froze my fingers and it was not even cold yet up there. They get about 8 months of snow. You boys from down Texas way would have to buy a lot of warm gear for up there. Dewey

Re: Lynx
Sounds like a blast. Thats been on my list for a while. Which dogs made the A team? Did the old dogs take a second to warm up to a new cat or just get with it. I know you don't let them run house cats or lions. Good job
Re: Lynx
Justin: I put Tanner and Red on the first one, it was a fresh track. Tanner opened a few times right off ,Red did not say a thing for a little bit but took the track. Both treed hard, I think they got up on it real quick and did not give it a chance to run. It was a nice tom so I took it from then on it was no problem. They took right to it. Dewey

Re: Lynx
Have been wanting to add a few lines and a few more of my phone pics to this thread. Finally have my daughter home for an evening, maybe she'll be able to add the pics of Allen's lynx. Great to see the interest in our northern Lynx. Do have to say, a hunt with Dewey and Allen for me was like being in a top houndsman clinic, lots learned and a bunch of Fun. Sure agree with everyone on conditions, have lynx around home here that I hunt in all conditions and there's a few that I have schooled by hunting them in enough poor conditions they seem to have the unreasonable advantage in any conditions, but ,the games not over yet. We are considering guiding some hunts next year, however I do hope we can talk Dewey and Allen into coming back up and giving us a hand as right now the sum total of my dog power is one little coon dog that might warm the bench on Dewey's or Allen's second string. We definitely are having a lot of fun though. Tom Griffith

Re: Lynx
Oops, sorry about the sideways pics,we'll figure that part out next. This cat of Allen's crossed the road right in front of us, looked like a bear wearing a lynx suit, old boy, bottom fangs all wore down.

Welcome Shane. Dewey told me all about his hunt up there and it sounded like a blast. Guess I need to start sweet talking him into taking me up some day.
