Tell Governor Brown and the Legislature to "Chuck" Bonham!

Chuck Bonham: He's One of Them

California Department of Fish and Wildlife Director Chuck Bonham was appointed in late 2011. Since then, the department has drastically differed from its historical mission as the official ally of preserving the resource and science-based conservation practices. Instead, Bonham seems more interested in pleasing an elite group of environmental extremist organizations whose goal is driving hunters and anglers from our state.

Then, in early 2012, AssemblyBill 2402 was introduced by then- Assemblyman Jared Huffman. The bill's purpose was to change the name of the Department of Fish and Game to the Department of Fish and Wildlife – more than a name change, but an indication of a change of purpose for the department. Furthermore, the bill allowed for the department to "enter into one or more agreements to accept funds from any person, nonprofit organization, or other public or private entity for purposes relating to conservation programs, projects, and activities by the department."

The bill's author, then-Assemblyman Jared Huffman, had carried Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) legislation before, and the radical animal-rights, anti-hunting group officially endorsed this bill (California Legislative Information, "AB 2402 Senate Floor Analysis", August 29th, 2012). The legislation served to enshrine a new partnership between the Humane Society and the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Bonham and the Humane Society USA got together last summer, when the director endorsed Assembly Bill 711, the bill to ban traditional ammunition that will go into effect in 2019.

As to be expected, The Humane Society USA was a major sponsor of the ban on traditional ammunition.

In addition to Bonham's close relationship with the Humane Society, he also sits on the Wildlife Conservation Board with Audubon Society executive Mike Sutton, who also serves as president of the California Fish & Game Commission. The Audubon Society co-sponsors anti-hunting, non science-based legislation that ultimately proves detrimental to the California resource. These relationships are troubling to hunters, anglers and California's true conservationists as they reveal an agenda based in ideology and politics rather than sound science.
Ignorance and not getting involved is the biggest enemy to a Houndsmen!
