Given up on Facebook
I've given up on Facebook. The nonsense that is constantly going on with it has gotten to be more than I want to tolerate. And I mean nonsense in every aspect, from constant politics to things that should ever have been put on the internet. It just got to be too much. But I still enjoy interacting with good dog people even if I don't know them. So hopefully there are still a few left on here that are staying away from all the other nonsense.

I unfriended everyone in 1987 long before it was fashionable never wanted one and never had a Facebook account. One of my sons does Cyber Security for a living and he had one for a little while in college , he deleted it or deactivated it I asked him why and he had to admit LOL to his old Jarhead dad that I was right it is just too big a risk for hacking , Id theft , etc.

Re: Given up on Facebook
I personally don't see it as a good thing. I'm only 33, but I can plainly see the addictive aspect of it. And honestly for the few positive things it may have to it, there is way more negative that I see. I've just come to realize it isn't something I want to be a part of. I couldn't figure out how to delete the account I have. But I deleted it off of my phone and do not plan on getting on it ever again

Re: Given up on Facebook
I joined Facebook this last December or so. I learned a tremendous amount about raising my own food (and foraging) to get my health back. But I am no longer on Facebook. Now I need the time to put my knowledge into practice.
Facebook is a tool. And like all tools it can be used for good or for evil. All tools can help us and they all can hurt us.
I am relieved to be off there. But thankful to the people I learned from.

Re: Given up on Facebook
Facebook is like most of the internet. Full of misinformation and stupidity. It has only reinforced two things. If someone is recording you stop what ever you are doing and immediately leave the area. If you have no idea what your talking about stop talking. You follow those two rules you may maintain some dignity.
The saddest thing ive learned is that unless a person has a good amount of common sense and knowledge these networks can be mostly misleading. Ask a question you know the correct answer to. Then keep track of the answers its little wonder so many folks are lost.

Re: Given up on Facebook
Facebook makes a really good platform for BS'ers ... and with the young guys there is a lot of peer pressure to catch big numbers..... So someone falls into someones BS and then they have to start there own BS and it escalates .... And then just ask a question and see how many experts come out of the wood work lol the mule and equine pages might be worse then the hound and hunting pages.. every fat butted helmet wearing backyard horseman will sure tell you what your doing wrong lol ... and then on the hound sites ask question and eventually it will end up in a my daddy can whip your daddy contest lol .. I'm on there just to promote some kind of sanity and communicate with friends and family.. I make my little videos and let everyone think what they want .. doesn't really bother me... Like David said its a tool and can used for good or bad ... and there are some good things on there

Re: Given up on Facebook
I first joined FB at the request of a ex girlfriend a few years ago. Now I have about 1000 friends. I try to keep my self out of the B.S. as much as I can. Any more I try my best to stick to posting just lion trailing videos. And trying to point out lion habits in video. Like I did recently showing some lion kills. But because of FB. I have made some new real friends. And gotten in contact with some old friends. That I hadn't spoken to in years. Is there B.S. on Facebook. Heck yeah there is. But let me tell you there is plenty on this site. I haven't posted on this site in a long time . For real good reasons. So all that said anytime you get on the internet. You open yourself up. And Brett I love your videos.

I agree with most of what has been said, and like Chris I have been up over a 1000 friends but I realized that I didn't even really know most of them so I deleted anyone I hadn't actually talked to whether it be in person, phone, or message.
I have made good friends through FB and the internet in general. You just have to learn how to sift through and ignore the BS. You have to understand FB is a great platform for promotion, whether it be self promotion or promoting ideas, that is what a lot of it has turned into. So like CBV said this gives a platform to bs'ers to bs. Like was already said if you approach it with the outlook it is a tool, then it becomes easier to deal with.

Re: Given up on Facebook
I tried out Facebook for just over one year. It's a ridiculous shit show. The bs is not worth the good it brings. I only get on this sight now when it comes to hunting with dogs. Facebook can have its know it alls and keyboard warrior's. I just enjoy my hunting and my dogs and not worry about who is doing what or who is doing who lol.

Re: Given up on Facebook
I am on FB some but in addition to the BS, it seems harder to find stuff on it the posts are all in the same area and its not as easy to look for posts that I am interested in. Forums are just easier to navigate and also easier to find and read older posts.
