I was wondering what time of day/night are grey foxes most active. New to the fox hunting I’m not sure what time is the best to find freshest track

They don't run during the day like Bobcat, although I have hit hot tracks around noon. Lots of cold trailing if you day hunt .

I prefer morning just after day break for the 1st couple hours. I have ran foxes during every hour of the day and night. Set up cameras and see when they move, if u can (not sure if it's legal) put out feed and put camera over it you will see when they are moving most. Cameras now will send pics your phone, if that's legal load up, go sit on couch and wait for phone to buzz u got a pic then go cast hot track, not the fairest of ways but seems like an easy way.
I don't care for night hinting as much personally bc you are hit or miss on a hot track, always had easier time striking jumpable track early morning. JMO, but I can say they will move any time of day. happy hunting
