Most guys start out killing a few females and pretty soon every shirtail relative and guy they met at the flea market has a lion hangin' on a nail. I did a cat for a guy in wheel chair last year the outfitter packed him on his back to the tree, it was a female. Are going to tell me because some IED blew this guys legs off and he could not follow the dogs step for step he somehow did not desrve to kill the cat?. If the law is broken, report it! If you can't share then get your law changed, but belly aching about some greedy outfitter does nobody any good.
how does this pertain to guides ILLEGALLY treeing cats and then calling a list of hunters untill one is willing to show up? as far as they guy hit with a IED that sways me not in the least. I was born with legs myself. I know personally how the loss of limbs and other bodily organs affect a person and fully support efforts to make a hunt feasible for those of us that are handicapped. that however is no excuse to repeatedly hunt illegaly to earn money. it's a weakness in humanity called greed that we are talking about and in doing i hope to sway those weak and new hunters from taking that route before they begin to. and by letting them know how the behavior is looked down on by others hopefully it'll work. since we can't inforce our values any other way in the USA.

Peg, I appreciate the fact that you are trying to educate people what consevation means to a true houndman. That is noble, but someone posted that if you don't follow the dogs, you should not kill a cat. The practice you speak of is no doubt illegal and unethical. Putting dogs out after a dfensless cat or bear is also illegal in some places and soon to be in more. Losing the right to hunt with hounds is at far greater risk by public perception. I do not condone outfitter greed, even though I benefit from it. Most of the 30 or 40 outfitters I work with would never admit to such things. I have felt like torching a guys trucks, outfitters and weekenders. Alas I have concluded if a law is broken I will report it. It rarely matters though. When you guys get a good dose of wolves, nagging about each other won't matter quite as much. We need to get a good "MAD ON"" at groups like the HSUS. they will ultimately make us all outlaws.

...and that is the law here in Colorado. I would think it is the law in all states?

Ah, the old love of money thing. It has corrupted every facet of our lives, including our Gov.'t.

You are telling me if your dogs go over the top and you sled twenty miles around because you could not get there today, you have broken the law. You would not make many trees in this country and the wolves would keep your dog food bill pretty low. You may as well can your telemetry like Idaho is considering. I would hunt a lot less and fish a lot more. Fact is, even Mule hunters don't follow the dogs much of the time. I turn out and sometime later that day (I hope) I will find my dogs treed. I have walked the track and slept out a few times, it only works if the cat don't go far.

Actually the law reads - "the hunter must be present when the dogs are turned out and a participant in the hunt the whole time".

No need to go track for track.

Here, treeing a lion and then calling in a shooter is illegal, and I hope it is everywhere.
