I think I singled out an ultra nice Andalusian mare to breed to for a mule. Now to find the right Jack....I'll post pics of her once it's decided for sure. SHe's straight from the spanish riding school stock in spain. Pure, pure pure

Brady, you do it and you'll have a chance at a super animal. The growth and longivity from what I understand is closer to the mammoths anyhow.
I agree whole heartedly with Dads Doughboy on the Catalonian jacks and you might as well do it right the first time.
I talked of this several years ago to my family and they thought I was a heretic....
Good luck Brady.
Oiler coach Bum Phillips when asked why he takes his wife on all the road trips.
Phillips: “Because she is too damn ugly to kiss good-bye.”
Not sure if it's true, just funnier than hell. A been there done that moment.

I'll keep you posted. I may just try a few mares all at once...Get a few and see how they all are. Perhaps if someone on here rides a bunch on mules, we can get some guys a few and we can all evaluate them together. I think they'd be the ultimate big game houndsmen mules.

Mainly becauase the Andalusian horses (at least the good bred ones from Spain) have more endurance and athleticism than any other breed I've found here. They move like nobodys business and they are perhaps the toughest and hardiest horse I've seen here as well. They are smart, sure footed and quick.....Oh yeah, and gaited as well. Put those into the traits of a mule (out of a top jack of course) and I think you would have something really special! Oh, and I used to shoe for the farm where I'll be leasing the mares....they have feet like no American bred pukes....SOLID

Reasearch the use of this type of mule by the various european armies and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Wow. I like that video. We've got an andalusian/quarter horse filly that will be 3 next year. I'm thinking I need to start thinking about looking for a gaited jack in the future to get me one of those good mules that you all were talkin about.

Brady,

Did you make this cross? If so, post pics of the mare you chose. I'm very interested to hear about this mule's abilities (granted, I'll be waiting for a while before you can tell me much of that... ) Would love to see pics of the mare.

Tyler I'll get some pics up. I'm actually thinking I'll breed 6 +/- Andalusian mares. Then I'll keep the ones I want and sell a couple or get them to friends. I'm pretty excited and the cross will happen early spring....2011. I'm excited too.

Hello, curious to know if you ever bred for these Andalusian mules?

I've also been thinking of doing this exact same thing for quite some time now. I would be very interested to know how it is working out.

Thank you Cletis

Merlin the Wonder horse.

Great watching and will give you an idea of the agility and bravado of the Andulusian horse. In Portugal they are registered as Luisatano horses but they are a select line among the Andulusian breed.

wow... I've been around alot of good performance horses but that is something... I want one!

That is amazing...awesome footwork! Some pretty decent horsemanship by the rider also! I would want a saddle with a bunch of handles. Wouldn't be good to fall off about that time.
when in doubt turn em out
