Re: dogs and divorce
I told my wife that if she does leave me bgh will be my new dating site. I figure that way I can get me a new gal that wont mind all my dogs. Plus I read theres cougars on here, and I like chasing cougars.

Re: dogs and divorce
lol thats pretty funny. when my wife was pregnant with our lil boy she would sit on the bed and cry wanting to go with me. she never understood a 8 month pregnant woman can't really move through the woods.

sounds like you picked a keeper. It's not that I would want my wife to go always, I would rather go with the boys and get away. but it would be nice when I was just out screwin around if she would come with and learn the sport a little better so that when I am wound up about it she would understand. bear huntin it is alot easier to take women and youngins, but huntin lions in waist deep snow and sub zero temps aint for everybody. most men can't even handle it. it takes kind of a crazy obsessed personality to put you in the woods when it gets like that.

Re: dogs and divorce
i've never been lion hunting but from what i read on here its gotta be tough. i've always wanted to try it out but as close as i can get is runnin bobs here at home. i can't complain bout it to much. between my work schedule and my wifes work schedule and a new baby hunting is bout the only time we get to ourselves. i'm sure that if mosy wives could understand our insanity there would be muchless chance of the bid d.

Re: dogs and divorce
From the very start, I told my wife that if she ever felt like giving me the ultimatum of "It's me or the dogs", leave me a note. In my view, the problems in marriage are not dogs, kids, or any other "outside" activity. The problems are always about control. After dang near 27 years, I still hunt hounds, and she still "lets" me. It's a give and take environment, and the sooner we master it, the better it works for all of us.

I think i got a keeper. last winter when i had to be at work, her and the little one where out chassin cats with my dad. She is addicted. she loves the dogs and can't wait for the snow to fly. not bad for coming from a family that don't hunt.
My old girl friend couldn't understand why i had to hunt so much. She thought all men should only hunt for one week a year during deer season like her dad. I told her would you rather have me out in the woods all weekend or be the other type and sitting in a bar all weekend every weeekend. I Guess she would have rather had me at the bar.
The new one totally understands this.

Re: dogs and divorce
Wow, if guys really want women that hunt lion and enjoy doing it then I can't figure out why I am still single. Guess there are a lot of lion hunters here, but not many cougar hunters.

my wife often comments that she wants her own place on the forum so all the wifes can conduct a support group and blow off steam with felllow non hunting spouses.
never doubt the dogs
Re: dogs and divorce
My wife is not all that fond of my hounds and all the time I spend hunting but she tolerates it because she loves me.I have no idea why and I know she could do a hell of a lot better but for some reason she does.If I ever thought that she might leave me because she was fed up with it all,the hounds would be gone in a heart beat.Ain't nothing more important to me than my wife and kids.If my wife and kids are happy and healthy, then I am a happy man.

Trueblue,
I can't believe you just posted that. Unbelievable! I think there are a lot of folks that would sacrifice their hounds to keep their wife, but YOU NEVER ADMIT IT. You definitely don't post it on the internet. I would never post that, it would give her just enough confidence to finally put her foot down. At my house we have been doing this dance for some time now. I always let her know I could go back to bar hopping and chasing skirts, maybe the dogs aren't all that bad.

Re: dogs and divorce
Well I'm no expert on marriage, but I just celebrated my 7 year anniversary. I can say this, if you get divorced because of dogs, there were many other problems tha didn't get mentioned. Truth is, if my wife was truly unhappy with me having dogs, I'd sell every one of them, I love hounds as much as anyone but my marriage is a million times more important. That said, I think when two people love each other it's a give-take like has been mentioned. For example, my wife loves ballet. She dances almost every day. I hunt a lot. We still have 2 kids who we do about everything with and we still find 1 or 2 nights EVERY week to go out on a date, just her and I. I can promise you guys, date your wives and they'll not have a problem with your hound hunting. I'd swear by it.

Tessa,
You had better be careful. If you ever get that pup trained to catch cougars, you're likely to find yourself treed in the living room!
