Meet Mr. Grizzly by Stephen Montegue (not sure on spelling of that last name) is probably the best I have read.

Walk With Wicke by John Wicke is pretty good to.

They are not specific to cats and bears, but much of it is still applicable

Also, Mike Leonard, on this board, has posted an essay on the subject of training for cats that I thought was pretty good. I don't remember where on here it is, but if you pm him I bet he will tell you.

good luck

the book and video review forum is full of good books and suggestions. training books are not overly numerous but there are some well worth going through no matter your experience level. as they say if you ever feel you have nothing left to learn your either full of shit or started out several million brain cells short to began with. Wick and Lamb both write well and cover most things from deferring perspectives.

Del,
If you are new to hounds and hunting, you will be learning just as much, if not more than your hound will, when it comes to chasing game. You will klearn the ways of the quarry and learn to *read* your dog. If your dog has been bred right, it will have all of the necessary traits to track and tree game. You will need to provide the learning opportunities for it.

Lots of good books out there for info as others have suggested. Spending time on these forums is also a good place to learn.

What breed is your dog? and what will you be hunting around Merrit, lynx, lion?
