Question for Colorado hunters..

ok I took my on line test and recieved my certificate of completion to hunt lion.. Now here is the ? I have friends who live in CO. say they call and want me to come lion hunting. I live in NM we use my dogs.. am I considered guiding.. do I need to be bonded, registered, and insured?

I don't know about CO. but in other states it is ok as long as YOU have the propper tags and licanses for that state and you can not receive any payment what so ever, this includes gas and food. I think the best thing to do would be to call fish and wildlife and they'll direct you better :!:

this is what I've always done when hunting other states.

Are you hunting? If so there is no problem that they are with you. The thing I think is that you can't recieve any thing for taking them. Some people say that gas and food are making profit but I don't know. I wouldn't imagine that the state is going to right a ticket over a tank of gas, they have bigger fish to fry. Especially if they you are with freinds. Now being out of state and not having a tag but your dogs are on the track could be a problem. That is something that I would check on.

Ken,

I live in Colorado and have a Friend from Socorro that comes and hunt's
with me.I have spoke with the Division of Wild Life.He does not buy a
Colorado Lion tag and is welcome to bring his hounds and Hunt with me.
This does not require any type of permit.Since you have taken the class
you can purchase a Lion tag and nothing else is required.

Ken, I also live in CO, and am an outfitter. If you recieve any compensation at all it is considered outfitting. As far as the DOW having bigger fish to fry... I wouldn't bank on it. It would probly depend on the game warden and what kind of mood they were in, some of them are rookies and lookin to put a notch on their belt, I know. I dont believe that you would need anything as long as your friends were just using your dogs but you start off with a stike against you with the warden if you are packing. The easiest way to find out is to have your friend call the office and ask if he can use them. Good luck, only let em take the big ones!
