Building a dog box out of steel need some help
hey everyone im building a new box. so i can load and unload it alone. it is going to be 38"w45"d27"h. i am going to use 3/4" steel tubing for the frame, and drill some hole on top of the frame so i can bolt a picies of 3/4" plywood for the top. i need help with what gauge i need to make the sides, i was think either 14ga or 16ga or maybe 18ga.thanks everyone for the help. oh and feel free to also give me some ideas to add to it. thanks

Have made a couple boxes out of .065 (16 gauge) works great - strong enough, but not to heavy. Good Luck!

I have a dog box made from 1 inch angle iron, frame and doors then I wrapped it in 1/4 plywood but I had the plywood wrapped by a tin knocker with colored metal first which makes the metal stronger and don't flex and bolted it on. I built this box in 1988 and replaced the wood twice in 23 years, I can load this box by myself, and it is a 2 stall

hey houndcrazy i welded and built my box out of steel as well and for the sides and the doors i used aluminum and just used self tappers to attach it to the tubing that way it stays nice and lite weight. Hope its not to late and this helps i am new to the site.
