Saddle up cowboy.
Re: Valle Vidal spring bear hunt
I don't think you can chase the bears around with dogs in/on the Valle Vidal spring bear hunts. I would call a make sure before doing so. Good Luck
Re: Valle Vidal spring bear hunt
dog use is allowed and was last year also.
Re: Valle Vidal spring bear hunt

Re: Valle Vidal spring bear hunt
Seth ,
You might want to glance at the proclamation on page 53. Under the Bear section
Use of Dogs
Dog use is NOT allowed on Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs). Dog
use is NOT ALLOWED from Sept. 1-22 in ANY unit. Dog use is NOT
ALLOWED on Sept. 23 and 24 in Zone 5 (Units 12, 13, 15-18, 20-24,
26 and 27).
I take it then the Valle Vidal is not considered an WMA.
This might be helpful info for you also.
Valle Vidal of the Carson National Forest
The Valle Vidal is seasonally closed to public entry, off-road
travel is strictly prohibited and camping is restricted. Dates of
closure are: West Side-May 1 through June 30, East Side-Jan.
1 through March 31. Other restrictions may apply. Contact the
USFS Office in Questa at (575) 586-0520 for more information
Good luck on your spring hunt should be good .

Re: Valle Vidal spring bear hunt
All I have to say is keep checking cause one warden will tell you one thing and another will give you a ticket. Its not clearly stated in the proclamation because the Villa is not a wma. But I would keep researching it before turning out. For our sakes I hope it is open to dogs.
Last year I had a question and asked several different wardens and none of them had the same answer. So keep checking or they might be looking for you.

Re: Valle Vidal spring bear hunt
Oh and Seth before you get to mouthy Ron has done more for the houndsmen in this state than most so show a little respect. If it wasn't for him and others like him we wouldn't have any kind of spring bear hunting dogs or no dogs. Good Luck on your hunt.

Re: Valle Vidal spring bear hunt
THANKS JOE, BUT THERE RIGHT. I JUST CALLED THE DEPT AND THEY CONFIRMED IT. I WAS GOING BY WHAT THE DEPT WAS TELLING US AT THE TIME WE WERE TRYING TO GET A SPRING HUNT UP THERE AND THEY WERE STATING THAT THERE WOULD BE NO DOGS ALLOWED. BUT I GUESS THEY THOUGHT IT THREW A LITTLE BETTER. I'M GLAD THEY DID. THEY WERE TELLING US THAT THEY ARE HAVING A TERRIBLE CALF LOST TO BEARS AND WE WERE TELLING THEM TO HOLD A SPRING HUNT AND NOT ONLY THAT BUT ALLOW DOGS. THERE ANSWER WAS, WELL, WE WILL TRY TO GET A SPRING HUNT BUT THE USE OF DOGS NO, AND THAT IS WHAT I WAS GOING OFF OF. SO I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO EAT SOME CROW ( MY FAVORITE ) SORRY. I KNOW WHAT HUNT I WILL BE PUTTING IN FOR NEXT YEAR! O BY THE WAY IT DOES STATE DO DOG USE IN THE VALLE BUT IT IS IN THE 2010 REGS.
