It has been a week today that we had the collar incident which resulted in a lost dog. Gut feel tells me that someone is involved in this situation, but so far we have no news or clues on the dog or collar. The area we are focusing in is not really that big or isolated, with houses spotted throughout.
The dog has a history of being a good homer (back to the drop spot) but has hung up at structures a couple of times in the past. This is a big turkey hunt weekend here so maybe some hunter will discover something that so far we have missed. There are still a couple of high-fence ranches we have not accessed yet.
I appreciate everybody"s input.
Thanks,
Help locating a slipped DC30 collar!!!!

Ish did you find the dog? If not you may think about renting a helicopter or small plane for a minimum flight time. Usually they require a couple hours of flight time but not always. This may help you pick up a signal again and pinpoint the dog. Just a thought.?.? I will be in that country come Monday if I can help. PM me if your in need.

You have to always remember that if your GPS shows a dog icon that doesn't seem to be moving, you need to pull up the dog page and check the dog status to see if you have communucations with the collar. Sometimes when you lose communication it shows a ? and other times not. Just a glitch I guess. We had a guy walk into a tree about 3/4 mile not hearing any barking and got there to find no dogs. Apparently the bear bailed while he was walking in and treed a few miles north. I had to explain to him about checking the communication status just to make sure.

Re: Help locating a slipped DC30 collar!!!!
This post started with a missing dog (astro dc20 collar) on April 17th. My friend (who owns the dog) received a call yesterday that someone had found the two collars the dog was wearing. They were beside a county road about three miles from the last known position of the hound. Appears that they were taken off, because they were rebuckled in the smallest position.

WOW!! That sucks! I'm sorry to hear that. I was hoping to see you say that the hound was returned safely. If you happen to come across the dog later in life, please "educate" the person responsible.
Again, sorry to hear this.

Strange someone would take the dog and leave the collars?? If you're going to steal a dog, why not steal the whole kit and caboodle.
Either way, that's shitty. Hope he gets his dog back.

THIS REALLY SUCKS! SORRY TO HERE ABOUT THE DOG, THE WAY I SEE IT IS AN ANTI HUNTER PROBABLY PICKED UP THE DOG, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF THE COLLARS... CHECK WITH THE LOCAL HUMAME SOCIETIES AND SHELTERS...DAM PEOPLE, 4 YEARS AGO I LOST ONE OF MY BEST BEAR DOGS FOR 3 DAYS IN THE PECOS WILDERNESS, I HAD GOOD GPS AND TELEMETRY, THEN I LOST SINGLE ON BOTH... I WAS GOING CRAZY! THEN FINALLY ON THE 3RD DAY I WAS TAKING A READING AND BEGAN RECEIVING A 217 SIGNAL, A REAL NICE LADY HAD MY DOG, HE HAD WONDERED ONTO PRIVATE LAND AND WAS BEING TREATED LIKE A KING...SHE WAS IN ROUTE TO TOWN TO CALL ME... ON MY COLLARS IT SAYS, " PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE COLLARS UNDER PENALTY OF LAW!", WELL WHAT SHE DID WAS REMOVE HIS GPS, TELEMETRY, SHOCK COLLAR, AND REGULAR COLLAR...BETWEEN DEEP CANYONS AND A METAL GARAGE, A FORD EXPLORER, MY COLLARS HAD LOST ALL SIGNAL... IN A GRATEFUL AND KIND WAY I ASKED WHY SHE REMOVED THE COLLARS, SHE REPLIED, "IT SEEMS LIKE HIS NECK IS HURTING HIM... ALL IN ALL SHE MEANT WELL... I WAS JUST GRATEFUL AND RELEIVED TO GET MY DOG BACK... WITH ALL THAT SAID, I TEST MY EQUIPMENT THE NIGHT BEFORE AND ONCE I RELEASE MY DOGS, I DON'T LEAVE THEM UNLESS I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO
