go pros on dogs

Postby 250plot » Mon May 25, 2015 1:42 pm

how many people used go pros on their dogs? do you set it on the back of the dog or on the chest? i think either has its advantages and disadvantages. i figure the best time it would work is on bay ups or at the tree. was wondering if anyone has problems with losing the go pro from thick brushes ripping it off, or dogs getting hung up because of the harness? i know you would have the harness tight to the dogs body but when running through brush it could hang up.

Dean fabricated his own attached to a dc30 collar. Houndseye currently markets and sells a vest with camera for hounds too. The videos I've seen the biggest issue seems to be moisture on the lens. Saving my pennies to give a one a try.

They work well attached to the collar. Forget putting them on their back like some have tried. You only get about 10% of usable footage. You'll need some extra lens covers, they get scratched easily in the rocks. I mounted mine upside down attached to the collar. Don't forget to set your GoPro to switch it to shoot upside down.

I agree with dean that is what I have found out too. Most of it is shaky and a waste but bay ups are sweet. Can see what dogs are doing what and what happens. Its fun to plug it in when I get home and watch what I missed out on

got back from the mountains today and the go pro was pretty cool. the mount on the collar is the way to go, no questions asked. going to go get 2 more and have one for each dog.
