Pat, I have a friend out of Vernal that hunts dogs. His name is Brad Evans have you heard of him? He will come out to New Mexico and hunt once in a while.

For me it's really hard to ever put a finger on which hound made a better lion dog, as they have all had their moments when they out shined the others. However, I believe my ol' LionHeart dog probably had a special place in her heart for the big cats and often showed it. She has gone on to that big tree in the sky but I'm still hunting dogs that came from her, and I believe she has passed that love of the big cats on to her offspring.......

That Choco dog was seven this past summer and is only half redbone. He is one of those deep red, redbone looking dogs that came from my Ike dog.

That red LionHeart dog was red as you can see, but to my knowledge she didn't have any redbone in her. She was one of those old Western, big game crosses that go back to alot of different stuff.

The Sir was a English, red and white male that belonged to Leland Evans and was known as their Duster dog.........

The gyp side was a brindled bitch name Sqaw that Shawn Labrum owned. That brindle bitch came from a plott/walker cross and those dogs (the grand sir and damn) were owned by CJ Prock and Hal Mecham, and go back to some of the old western crossbred bloodlines.

I probably should have picked up a papered female redbone years ago to breed to that Ike dog but time slipped away I guess, as he's nine this past summer and by the time I raised and made a good female he'd been too old or gone.

I have 2 red dogs that look similar to Lionheart, and they are from Hal and Shirley Cook's stuff. I have heard that Duster dog was a top notch big game hound.
