Why the problem with size? I know Del says now he likes a medium size dog.. (I tend to lean toward the larger..) But even in Del's old Full Cry Ad for Blue Thunder in 74-75??, he bolds
"He is 28 inches tall, weighs 100 pounds" And Blue Thunder was out of Rattler.. I don't know that its very significant, but why too big? Or are you saying that's part of why he ventured away from SC?

From my understanding bloat can happen to about any dog but if it is a reoccurring problem within a strain, as I think it was with Del, then it would more than likely be a genetic issue. It is much more common in large deep chested dogs and it has been found that some breeds like Weimaraners definitely have a propensity towards Gastric Dilation (bloat). If I was running large deep chested dogs I would make sure I didn't feed them for a few hours before and after exercise. Some people even make these types of dogs eat their food off the ground so the dog can't gulp its food. Also don't want the dog drinking a lot of water after eating either.

Size is personal preference.
Looks like Smith's blue Ann may be 1/4 GGS?
She is also 1/4 Lee's Arizona Blue, Who as I understand it came from the Goswicks?
This was the bitch Harry spoke so highly of.

Steve, when I read that closely, I get that S.R.Speck is the littermate.
This gets interesting:
Panther -G- is in Green, Sugar Creek, Smokey River and now I am betting, Lee.
But damn, just look at that female! Look at the depth of chest yet narrow through the shoulders.
John Green tells me that the open faced female, in the pic of the 3 hounds on page 2 of this post, is named Freckles. Look at the ped, she is 1/2 Panther -G-. Border Raider and Smith's Blue Ann are 1/4 Panther -G-.
Anyone got a pic of Smith's Blue Ann?

If I'm not mistaken, there is a picture of Smith's Blue Ann in the back of Del's Call of the Hounds book. It is on one of his old Sugar Creek Kennels Ad's in Full Cry.. I don't have it in front of me, but I'm fairly certain.. I'm sure you have a copy that one of you can get to before I get home tonight.

Nope that one is way younger, I think her name was Top Notch Ann.
Another one from the long Ann line that started with the bitch Panther-G- was bred to; Fairlee Ann.
I will check and see. But what else? During the single registry of that day, they had to use a letter to denote the breed of those outcrosses.

How's she bred? Oh, I see. Check the UKC reg. numbers looks like two different Gingers.
Finding out the names of Bill Green's white french hounds will shed some serious light on the pedigrees of some well known foundations.
