Bear season has been slow for me due to working this damn night shift, which has been extended a few weeks. Caught a few so far and my youngest puppy started firing on Saturday. Anyone been catching anything?

You gonna have to get your priorities straight with that work vs hunting issue. Do like Rowdy and make momma get another job so you can hunt, lol.

We’ve haven’t been catching much as far as numbers but catching a couple of good boar hogs each trip. The weather has been crazy and put a damper on the hunting at times, then chasing kids and my health too. I get where you’re coming from, life can hamper your hunting. I did get to hunt with a buddy the other day that has two pups out of our dogs. One female about 12-14 months and a male about 8 months that really did a nice job. It was the males first hunt and that dude hit the ground like he had been doing it for a long time. That made me proud. His older gyp did a really nice job as well. She was my pick out of that litter and let him have her. He’s a heck of a good young man. She found and bayed a hog(s) about 900yards SW of us and stayed bayed solo while my dogs found a boar 4-500 NE of us that broke towards her. We got him shut down and caught and the other dogs all went to her from there. Pretty fun to see them do what they are supposed to do.

Watching pups that were born at my house fire is a great joy!! ! Took a 5 day weekend to hunt with a buddy, I started Thursday before he got here and had an amazing day. Rigged and caught 3 separate bears before noon! Lots of action for all the dogs!.https://youtube.com/shorts/eu6PJCdlkaI? ... t0IM7io6tM

The more bear videos I watch the more fun it looks. I really like pheasant hunting but treeing a bear looks pretty darn fun. Keep posting and I'll get some bear dogs when the times right.

How’s everyone been? I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I got on. I’ve been ridiculously busy. Haven’t hardly had time to catch my breath. Between work, chores and projects I haven’t been hunting much.

Definitely been a bit!! It’s way to hot here right now, may cool down a bit for the weekend but not much. May try and go out coon hunting which I haven’t done in years. Gotta start getting the dogs back In shape for sure.

It has been, life hasn’t been giving me many breaks this year lol. I took the fogs out this week to run along the ditches and half of them came back with sore feet. They only went about 5 miles. I felt pretty bad for them.

Glad to see you’re all good Rowdy. My dogs are pretty sorry right now too. It’s been one of three things lately. Either it’s been raining, I’ve been sick with this dang intestinal disease, or we’ve been chasing my boy with baseball. We just got back home last night from a tournament in Alabama. I think it rained here the whole time we were gone. A lot of flooding real close to us. RV parks completely destroyed and homes full of water, roads washed away, etc. The worst was a couple hours away where all the little girls were at church camp. My prayers are with everyone that has suffered any kind of loss in all this but especially those who have lost friends and family. There can’t be anything worse than losing a child!

I took my youngest son and a couple of his buddies out before we left for Alabama and caught a good sow. Myself and the dogs were hot before we were done lol. On a good note, I took a pup on her first hunt. I was real happy with her. She moved real well, bayed hard, and was right there for every part of the hunt. This little gyp has a big motor and brains to spare. I’m super excited about her.

Definitely a super sad situation!! Can’t imagine… I’m not much for coon hunting but took the dogs out Friday night for the first time in 4 years, didn’t get anything going. Took them out for some exercise this morning around 8 am and about a mile into the run they swung off the road into this swampy area and all hell broke loose. Walk in and they had caught a coon on the ground  i hunt that drainage a ton and have never seen coon tracks but there’s water so not surprising it was in there. So in that one drainage I’ve caught every species of tree game we can run in Montana lol

The key to catching game is putting the dogs where there is game lol. Sounds like the hang out.
