I stick by what I said. Give me a dog that is made right and has desire and I will give that dog so much exposure he will get good at it.
I have coached most of my adult life. I have boys that know the game of football as well as I do. They are fun to coach but most of them don't play middle linebacker for me. A lot of them kids stand on the sideline and watch the kid who is a super star athlete with a burning desire to tackle somebody play linebacker for me.

And ten to one that kid playing linebacker has brains also! Not to many linebackers that don't understand the game real well make great linebackers! Andy

I bet there is high percentage of them line backers that would never of graduated high school let alone college if it wasnt for their ability to play linebacker. Is that Brains or Desire or Experience that got em to the NFL? ...... just askin lol

I am willing to bet different. Line backers are the quarter backs of defense they are the play callers on defense from high school through nfl. They understand ever aspect of the game. Very intelligent individuals. WITHOUT BRAINS ONE HAS NOTHING when talking bobcat dogs!!! Andy.

Guys, some of the very best bobcat dogs on the west coast are running x tree dog crosses, having said that, believe very few pure running dogs learn to locate bobcat in big timber without a ton of game shot out to them. And like most all other crosses, one has to cull several dogs to find a good cat dog in a high percentage of running x tree crosses. There are tree bred dogs that are good track dogs & catch their share of bobcat if giving proper exposure & guidance. However to find a good one takes some culling. In my experience. Al

Al,i had a little running walker female a year or so ago that would locate good but she wouldnt sit down and bark treed. I heard her locate ahead of the others multiple times and have it on video twice. That is the only dog i haver seen that would do that. My son has her littermate brother and he has learned to tree but wont locate. I would sure like to get my hands on one that would do both out here as i sure like everything else about them. I have lots of feelers out there and have been told that some of them boys on the east coast have some that locate and tree in their bigger timber but are very tight knitt and hard to get a dog from. Maybe someday???????))

Mark, Mine does that every now and again. Two nights ago she came in sat down and made what I thought was a good locate that damn thing was climbing for the moon. In some big timber. Most trees she is pretty steady treeing. Some days she doesn't say much but have had her out locate a few times now. Not two years old yet. Her pups are making Dandys. The male has came in sat down on three ahead of everyone and blew the bark off the tree one is questionable just in hearing. But he has it figured out gives a lot of mouth at the tree

You thought wrong. This thread is about whatever direction the bobcat section wants it to go in. Bobcat rule #3472.115

Ive seen some running dogs mill around a tree and a few bark up but that's about it and these were not big trees.

I've got a old photo somewhere of a female so high in a tree you can barely make her out. She actually had alot of registered English in her but didn't consider a cat caught unless she was holding on or as close as possible. Very right mouthed dog as she only bawled when she was frusterated . a oldtimer told me she wouldn't live long and by experience he should have been right but she died in the kennel. Had several bad climbers in that line. Some learned to come down or stay down others didn't. To the best of my knowledge none ever played football maybe soccer

I don't like climbers. Sure makes ya sick when ya see one of your best dogs clear the hell up there like that. Soccer is not being discussed sir. Bobcat rule #927.8675309
