I have seen the horse market be this cheap for a long time. Last fall I seen three real big nice geldings go through the sale that have been rode on the mountains above jackson wy. The guy bought them young and rode them that summer then was going to sell them they brought around $1000 dollers.
The point of this story is you can go to a sale barn and might get a hell of a deal. but you call some one and ask if they have a good younger sure footed horse they will say yea and want between $3500-$5000. Just because there are people out there that think you have to pay that price to get a good "ranch horse."
Best of luck to you hope you can find what you are looking for.

The trouble is there is an element out there that can and do sell very high dollar (Quote) Ranch Broke Geldings. Becasue they market a lot of size and color and they sell to the buying public that has plenty of cash to spare. My son attends the Wyo. gelding sales in Thermopolis, Wyoming put on on by Bill (Cody) Smith. Bill targets the luxury clients who have the bucks and just want good solid broke gelding on theri own ranchettes that are very easy on the eye. Many of these top sellers are big grays, buckskins and palimonos and they routinely sell for 15-25 thousand dollars. Yes that is correct $25,000. for a gelding. Are they worth it? Not to me but to the people that can afford it I guess so. When you have Wilford Brumley on one side and Tommy Lee Jones on the other side bidding it's pretty hard to stick your hand up. LOL!

A lot of ranch geldings go thru other rings that are every bit as good as some of these and some maybe even as pretty if you clean them up show like, but you have hard working ranchers, cowboys , horse lovers and maybe even a broke hound guy or two bidding on them.We just better hope Tom Selleck doesn't show up. LOL!

An element?? that makes them sound bad

Leyton I seen Kieth but didn't mention it to him but I will next week and if he knows of anything I'll just give you his phone number..

Shorty I told him that you said hello he grinned and I guess called you by name but I can't remember what that was now.. of course if you know Kieth sometimes he doesn't use alot of words. I also got to visit with Terrel for a while he showed me a picture of a lion he killed that weighed around 400 lbs... he has it on his phone...
