That has always been a trait in the Little Topper bred Nance dogs like Samson they have a good cold trail nose but they don't love a track so much they hang up. They will wheel and cut and slash and grab it again and go on and catch. Now don't get me wrong I love them trail stickers and trail holders but I like them to do it all if they can but if they can't we combo up and go get em. Samson and Topper Again have put a lot of dogs on the ground that can do it all but one thing for sure they do is when a track gets up they get gone.
Jeff Allen told me one time that it was sort of frustrating seeing Topper Again wind up a cold track drive it with the best of them on the cold long end and then just like Secretariat start pulling away from some really fast track dogs and see him go flying across the face of the mountain way out there ahead and catch. I know a lot of the Samson dogs are the same way. I have two Topper Agains as well and I really like them as well. But I still like a combo and the old line dogs are just so tough and easy to handle and versatile they still own my heart.
