See this is what I think about when I am out there hiking the canyons while Bella is out using her nose. It is so quiet and peacful that I start thinking of the how, why, what and where. I think I need to find someone to hunt with. Might start refering to myself in the third person next...... well, don't think it will ever get that bad.
Ms. Tessa if you start referring to yourself in the 3rd person, you will remind me of a gentleman that used to be part of this forum that is no longer with us. You could call yourself Ol' Tess and rig polar bears in the south pole(they live in the north pole). But as far as top or bottom, I would think the the top would be better with the currents rising during the day and the north side because it's cooler and the scent wouldn't burn out as fast.

Posse,

I'm a ridge guy myself... but you know me, always prefer being on top!! But wherever I end up, I'll make the best of the situation. Not opposed to the bottom either!

When it comes to Cougars, sometimes a guy just has to take what they'll give you. :D :D

Hot diggity damn! The esteemed one himself has once again chosen to grace us with his insightful words of wit and wisdom.

What's that old saying about full circle? Mini D is gone and HD is back and I would imagine old Zeus is propped up on some cloud with a cold one and a cigar laughing his behind off. LOL!

Hunting around Blanding and Kanab it seems that you find most of the tracks on top of the deep canyons. They like to walk just under the first lip most of the time. But it sure is fun when you do find one traveling the bottom of a canyon, maybe a little water running, always alot cooler. The dogs trail alot faster and it can get pretty exciting. But they always seem to tree at the top. lol

Killroy,

I know what you mean it is pretty cool way up in Cottonwood towards Hammond in the bottom talk about scenery, and over in Johnson Canyon up by Simon some of the same just not as tall. still it seems like in the bottoms I find more bear in Cottonwood anyway and turkey in both but as you climb out and get towards the top is usually where I find the lion sign.

upon a ridge I rested as I went along my way
when all at once a mighty band of red neck hounds I saw
A ploughing thru a ragged sky and up a cloudy draw

before this one dies I would like to say it does not matter top or bottom . when you find that track look all around and the worst place you can see is where you are going to end up.
