The main reason for having leads is to tie dogs back at a tree. It is a safty thing and what most guys do. It has nothing to do with the handle he has on his dogs.

12-gauge really nice story! nice to see someone check things out first hand. that's pretty admirable. i guess it must be true that a guy has to do ten million good things for people to say one good thing, but make a couple bad calls and their on ya like pirahna's, it's worse if ya throw a little ego in the mix. i think ike just had a really low tolorance for self proclaimed experts and those that are legends in their own minds. is that really a bad thing? i don't think so, i think we could do with alot less of both. just a thought! best of luck

Why is it when someone post something on this site someone has to come back with a smartass comment ?Everything about dogtraining to what you feed your dog's . If theres a question asked and certain people don't agree they can't just post there views and then move on without disrespecting the guy that has a different opinion on something . I'm know for a fact that there are people that would like to comment on things but the first thing you know if they did some idiot would get on here and start shit . I could reply in so many ways to the posts that come on here. I'm trying to do better myself as far as what I say. For now, I will let it all ride. I have dogs of my own. I catch plenty of game with the hounds I feed. The interesting part of the the whole hunt was learning that there are differences based off of what the terrain dictates. I had never hunted in the mountains before. It was a true pleasure to see it first hand. I think it is important to keep in mind, that what works in your woods, may not work in someone else's. Like I said, Ike was a true pleasure to meet. I personally think I am a lot like him. It drives me crazy to read someone's post knowing it is full of BS. Heck, I've lost a good childhood friend for reading his posts online that he totally embellished. I was at most of the hunts he was posting about, and had hunted around his dogs from day one. Yet, in his mind they were super dogs. I surely did not see that. Eventually, I called him out on his embelishing stories on the WWW. Let's just say, we no longer speak. I think this happens a lot on these forums. People get to talking their dogs up so much, they start believing they're better than what they truely are. Then, when someone calls them on it, there is no where to turn but to attack. Keep in mind the embelisher was to blame from the beginning. It reallly is simple, post the facts. You can't argue with them. If I post it, it is the gospel. It never backfires. The other main problem is a lot on here hunt sub-par dogs. When they read stories on here about what really good dogs are capable of, they just can't fathom it, because their dogs are not in the same class. It does not make the other dog owner a liar, it just simply means he has better dogs. Be true to yourself, and you can learn things in life.

Great pics 12 Guage. Sounds like you had a great time with Dennis. I'm sure most guys would find out the same things you did if they spent time with Ike. Most guys really are good to be with. Too bad Ike isn't on here anymore...I enjoyed his posts.

I have ran into the ole' ikester out hunting a couple of times. Personally I beleive he is a pretty good egg. He is rather enjoyable to bs with. And I beleive his dogs are what he says they are. And he puts game up. Especially that plott dog he has. I too wouldnt mind seeing him back.

The proof is in the pudding, and it looks like ike just served a plate full. It's about time you hear one houndsmen give another the credit that due. Good story Josh.

I must have missed something here? he put a bear up, was nice to a guy, and called some old dogs away from a tree and now he's reached god status? I got nothing against ike, but most of you whining to get him back are the ones that voted him off. I never voted for him to leave, but the forum is way better without him.jmo I'll prbably get tagg teamed for this one, but I think there is some sugar coating going on here. why is it that most famouse people weren't famouse until they were long gone? maybe people make them out to be heros and the story grows till they are. 12 gauge, I'm not trying to take anything from you here, great pics, great bear and looks like a great time had by all. I'm just not ready to stand in line to snivel and try to see who can stroke Ike the hardest with you guys. nobody ever doubted that Ike caught game, he has two videos out plenty to see. it was the lies, ego, and bragging that got him the boot.

I think you guys made your opinion clear about this guy, so quit taking your time to bash a man just because another man share his hunt and personal opinion. There's life outside of the computer, go hunt or something.
