That definetly sounds like wolves. Wolves are pleasure killers if there is plenty of game they will eat what they want at the time of the kill and leave the rest for scavengers. I once found where a pack of wolves cornered and killed 12 deer at the base of a cliff, eating very little of the deer.

Wolves are vilest creatures on this planet and any houndman that doesn't shoot them on sight should himself be shot.

i am from northern Utah, we have seen and heard wolves up on Monte Cristo and back by the border or Deseret Land and Livestock just this past elk hunt. they are hear and not just passing through. Keep an eye on your dogs. And in my opinion they are not just passing through or hanging out, they are setting up home. I also do quite a bit of trapping in sucluded areas and the tracks I have seen this year in the snow are by no way made by a coyote. good luck and protect your dogs.
