With 6 or 8 cat dogs you will catch a lot more cats quicker than with one or two. More nose's and dogs working on the track. You can not have dogs that bark off track. That many that are the right dogs will run a cold track almost as fast as a hot track. Until you have seen a pack of straight cat dogs run, that are good at what they do you can not imagine what is possible. During training season Tim and will run all we have at one time. As far as getting them out of the woods just call them and walk off of a tree they will follow. If not go back to your home work, they should all come when you call no matter what is going on. I agree with Tim and Dewey and I think they explained it well. I like about 6 but sometime have 10-12. Another reason to have several dogs in a pack I think Mr. Finney Clay described best. He said, "A good cat pack is like a college football team. You not only need seniors but you'd better have some juniors, sophomores and freshmen coming on or you'll be out cat dogs before you know it." You start adding younger dogs and you can end up with several on the ground. As far as leading the dogs out, I expect them to come if they can hear me call. Don't matter if it's one dog or a dozen.

2 top notch dogs works perfect for me.i only put one starter dog in at a time so i can pay attention to exactly what that dog is doing and what it needs to do. i think it makes a better dog

we run 3 to 4 and have 3 to 4 in the box for extras incase its a long chase and u need some fresh dogs there was some guys that came out to the bighorns a few years ago runnin a ton of dogs and i ended up with 2 dogs at the house ud think it would be easer to find or catch 3 to 4 dogs instead of 10 plus
