My top year was about 20 and worst was around 6 but its shure getting harder to do the big numbers it takes a lot of fuel, and it seems like when the cats are moving im always tied down hunting for a client. one day this year we found 9 tracks on fresh snow but we where P / Y tom only hunting with a client so i didnt even get to catch any to take pics. days like that shure hurt the overall numbers, im shure i could have cought one or two of those little females before the dogs got to tired to run.

Kittens count. And you don't have to bring them up unless asked. :)

Through the 80's and into the 90's a hunting partner and I used to average around 40 lions per season. We also filled most if not all of our bobcat tags too. Those were the glory years, by the time our pups were 3 years old they would have been on close to 100 lion trees. A dog would have to be lucky to get that many in a lifetime around here anymore.

Your right Kev, and that was just mainly hunting weekends. Could catch two in a day most days with more than one guy looking for tracks. Now you have 5 guys looking for tracks and can be lucky to catch one every other weekend :x :(

What i am hearing is more proof that we have a major cat problem in cali. I easily see 4 to 6 different sets of lion tracks a night while fox hunting in new snow.

Before wife and kids 12-15 a yr. working 5 days a week. After wife and kids 2-4 a yr. working 14 days a month. Just as easy to find tracks now as it was then. A lot more dog boxes in the country now. Also a lot more spoiled, hard running, dog fighting lions to deal wiith.

Most years I catch between 25 and 30 lions .My best year was 36.With the price of fuel it is getting hard to afford hunting that much.
