The most aggressive tree fighting dogs I have hunted my PLOTTS with were walker dogs. My brother also had a cameron which was extremely growly. By the the sounds of most people I must have got lucky with my PLOTTS. The only fighting they do is with bear. I chose this breed for the complete package. Oh, and I like treeing lots of bear! :P

ZeluvaRIP69er: To the best of my knowledge all the strains of plotts that my buddies have going back 25 + years have all come out of New England states with perhaps 1 or 2 coming from NC . No western bred Plotts that I am aware of . After 3 bad experiences with plotts ,I want nothing to do with them . Like I said GRIT is one thing , Aggressiveness towards Hounds and people is NOT tolerated . the last time a plott of a friend of mine ,while I was Leashing him up turned on me cost me 12 stitches in my leg . A 44 to the head resolved that problem  I don't mind hunting behind a pack of plotts ,but won't mix our hounds with other peoples . Sorry that is just the way I feel.

I'm a bit of a B&T fan, but I like any dog that can catch game. I really like the Hicks line. I had a Dollins plott that was 95lbs of muscle and was never ill toward any dog, but the coons he caught on the ground didn't fare too well.

Good nite! I took the trigg comment as some good hearted humor and poked back with the plott comment. It was obviously all in good fun. I am sorry if I offended you. Wait no I'm not. You were completely out of line young lady coming back with your foul mouthed rant. I highly doubt a couple good hearted jokes is giving the anti's or anyone else a bad image of houndsmen. Foul mouthed rants on the other hand definetly give creedance to the stereotype. You owe everyone on here an apology.

It wasn't the message of her post, it was its content. I stand by my statement. Nuff said about it.

I'm not going to apologize for saying shit just because I am a girl...

Had I been a male and said it you would have laughed and prolly not replied.

If I can't defend something or someone that means a lot to me, then you shouldn't be able to either.

So no, I won't apologize. Had I said worse language, I might. But I feel what everyone said about the Plotts was far worse then what I said.

My favorite dog is the one that everyone had 15 years ago that would only run uphill 25 miles but still end up treeing a bear 2 lions and some bobcats in a coons den tree. Other than that ill stick to them plott dogs. And what is any women doing running hounds and then getting offended by some a$$hole on the internet, Forshame.

I wouldn't worry so much about the breed or the color. Just find ones that do what you want, where you want to do it and go from there. Get stuff from guys who catch stuff, not guys who try to sell stuff.

I have seen some Plotts that were that way but also, Redticks, Blueticks, B&T, Walkers, Trigg, Cur and Redbones. My little Plott female is a very gritty dog on game but is just about the best dog I have seen around other dogs. My Redbone loves to get ahold of game and do some damage but he is the same as my plott when it comes to other dogs. My Walker dog is just the same. I think its a very easy fix if you have a dog that fights other dogs you know what to do to fix it and it dont matter what the breed. I think there are good and bad in all dogs and people.

My favorite breed to run is definately plotts. The best dog I ever followed was a black n tan. All breeds have culls and rough dogs. No breed is exempt and no breed is the leader in aggressive dogs either. It is more on the individual breeders or hunters than on the dogs because either can end it with a finger.........................click!

I wouldn't be afraid to drop my pack anytime, anywhere, or with any other dogs. I will just say this if you have a fighter they won't make another tree or bay!!! I am easy to get along with and love to hunt. I just don't put up with trash and bs.

I wanted to toss in my 2 cents never had a plot so I can't say anything good or bad but I've got a walker and a walker/English mix both fine in the box fine running together fine at the tree but don't let anything near them while on the chain people ok but no other dogs man do they fight hard they pulled their houses so close they ended up fighting took me forever to get them apart without getting chewed on lol
