I agree with "ferjr". I run the Tatou 4s on my Honda rubicon. The lack of power steering is way down on my list of things I'd like to have. I really like the tranny in the Honda. I could use more power though. A 500 is marginal at best. Diff locks would be nice, but then power steering would be probably required. More fender clearance is necessary as my foot rests are nearly ripped off now. I could ask for lots of things, but it's still more functional than any sled I could have bought for the money that I have in the tracks. I'm sure that a winch will be necessary before too long. My confidence will soon surpass the machine's ability

Well my two cents I have a 700 prairie with maxis bighorn tires with studs and chains and there aren't many places that machine won't go. It has plenty of horse power and a dif lock for when the going gets real tough. We had some real deep snow early this year and i was pushing snow bumper deep and it didn't ever leave me stranded. The warn winch comes in handy when you get in a pickle. If I were to buy another 4 wheeler I would buy Brute force and tire the hell out of it money well spent.

Dad had Maxis Bighorns and chains on his Grizzley, it also has a diff lock. Trust me your four wheeler WILL NOT go no where near the places one with a set of tracks will, that is from experence. Those tracks will go where a snowmobile wont go. I havnt seen anything it wont go through or climb over. Those tires will dig down in the snow, the tracks stay on top. I will put money your four wheeler cant follow that Grizzley with tracks, there is no comparison. Go try a set, you will be totaly shocked!

I have a set of the tatou tracks on a yamaha 660. The machine will go any where but the cost of ,keeping it running has been unbelievable. I snap of the spindles on the front of mine at least 3 times a year. It is just so much harder on the machine and takes so much power, I have not had much luck with it. This last little wreck cost me about 3 grand. Had a tom I was trying to freshen up a bit. Looked to be about a week old but could not find him leavin the area so Im flying around on these little trails and I start to notice a grinding in the front end. I swing it around to head to the truck(3 miles). I make it half way back and sieze up the moter. Go to load it on the trailer and rip of the swing arm on one side. The bearing went out on one side and caused all this in that short of time. The problem is I have less than 200 miles on this machine since the last front end rebuild.
I am gonna fix it and sell it. Buy the absolute largest motered atv anyone makes and go with mattracks. They absolutly blow away tatou!

I can honestly say that you are the only person I have ever heard of that has had your problems! The older Tatou tracks, from what I have been told had issues with the bearings in the rollers, they have fixed that on the new Tatou 4S tracks, they now have sealed bearings that keep out all the mud, dirt, snow, ect... My dad has put some serious miles on his 660 with the Tatou 4S tracks without any issues, as a matter of fact, we went out christmas day cat hunting and got his Dodge 2500 4x4 diesel stuck ,with chains, burried is a better term for it in snow. We wenched it untill we ran out of trees to hook too, all it would do was spin the tires, it was on the frame. We unloaded his four wheeler, put it 4 wheel drive, low range and locked the differential in, and I drug the Dodge, while my dad was driving the truck, over two miles, threw over two feet of snow to the nearest plowed road, with that Yamaha 660, if anything was going to break it would have been that day.

How can you have serious miles on those tracks? You have only had them 2 months. Let me know how they held up after a few hard seasons.
I would have to go with Ranger on this one. Mattracks are the most durable track money can buy. Their M3 tracks can carry a payload of 3500lbs. It is getting popular for guys to put them on Suzuki Samari's and Geo Trackers. They hold up pretty well, a set of Tatous would crumble under the pressure. They are more durable and have a larger footprint. There is a reason everyone is always comparing the Tatous to Mattracks. The people that cheaped out are just trying to justify their decision.

Pretty easy, George. My dad is retired and has nothing to do all day but go out on his 4 wheeler, in the last two months that thing has seen alot of use and abuse. Not to mention what I have put it through. We do alot of riding. I have put over 2000 miles on my Grizzley in less than a year, and I dont ride near as much as my dad does. By the way, how do you figure that people that bought Tatou 4s tracks, cheaped out? The Tatou's were $4100. I just checked Mattracks web site and you can get Mattracks Litefoot XL ATV tracks for $3595. They are cheaper, and from what I have heard are not as good. We checked them out before getting the Tatou's, the Yamaha dealer said they werent near as good, maybe they are, I dont know, I also dont know anyone that has a set, I do know several people with the Tatou's that have them on ATV'S and UTV'S and have yet to hear any bad from them. Have you personally had either set, to have any kind of basis for comparison?

There is a few youtube videos comparing the new Tatous and the Mantracks and at least in the videos I watched the Tatous put the Mantracks to shame. The Mantracks were etting stuck and the newer Tatous were flying around.....not sure if the videos were staged, but it didn't appear to be.

In some of those videos you can see the riders engaging the lockers on the ATV with the Tatous as well as all four corners spinning. The ATV with the Mattracks is obviously still running an open diff on the front end. One thing I firmly believe, almost any video comparing any products is going to be staged or biased in one way or another.

I am not comparing the bottom end product from Mattracks to the top end of Tatou. Mattracks had to make some cheaper tracks to compete with Tatous and the Polaris off brands. If you want a serious product with years of trouble free use, the Mattracks M3s are a pretty good way to go.
I own a set of Mattrack M105 tracks for a full size truck. I have spent years in the woods with them as well as Lightfoot, and Tatou tracks. Tatous are not a bad way to go but are far from the best on the market. This has been learned over years of use, not just a couple months. No offense.

No offense taken George, I appreciate your input. I am going to be buying a set before long for mine also, just saying,I have been really impressed with the Tatou 4S tracks. I dont know anyone with the Mattracks so I have no basis for comparison, I wish I did.

the whole design of mattracks is better. Go to there web sight and look at the demo on obstacles. I admit mine are pretty handy but i sure couldnt get mine to climb up that concrete or over those logs without hanging up the rear end. I am gonna post mine tatou tracks as soon as I figure out a fair price. If anyone wants to make an offer P.M. me.
